Maybelline Colorshow Bright Sparks in Molten Maroon: Review, Price, NOTD

12.2.18 0 Comments
A quick review of the nail polish that I totally digged in all through the winter...Maybelline Colorshow Bright Sparks in Molten Maroon.
Maybelline Colorshow nail paints was one of the best budget launches ever. They packaging is cute... the quantity just fine to finish in your lifetime... the shade range is pretty okay too!!
Comes in the regular color show round bottle with the shade name engraved on the bottle cap. I like this idea better than the details on the sticker thing.
It retails for 120/- rupees and is mostly on discount.
The shade Molten Maroon is a gorgeous deep wine/burgundy. After 2-3 coats, it becomes almost ox-blood...true love!!
I love to pair this nail paint with the Maybelline Creamy Matte liptick in Burgundy Blush
The picture is taken on the third day post application. You can see the edges getting slightly faded but definitely no chipping.
This is one of my favourite winter look combo..
Hope you guys like it :)
Much Love

Maybelline Creamy Matte Lipstick in Burgundy Blush : Review, Swatch, Price and FOTD

24.11.17 1 Comments
Heeeyyyyyaaa lovelies..
Here's hoping everyone's doing well and with the chill in the air, the bolder makeup is seeing the broad day light out of the stash.
Seriously speaking, deep dark shades and not worrying about the melting foundation are the only reasons why I love winters. Otherwise, I'm not a big fan of layering up. Even the smallest task seems huge when it's cold outside. Winter would be the favourite season of the homo sapiens who have the luxury of cuddling in a bed with their favourite book and coffee by their side. For a mom of two.. it's simply not!!! So what ends up being most pleasurable is not feeling overboard at the thought of deep rich colours.
Speaking of choice of colours, I have my own pantone colour of the year every season that might remotely have nothing to do with its official counterpart.

This year it's ox blood...slash..deepest wine... slash...dark burgundy...slash...deep maroon with a black undertone. I was getting intrigued by so many brands for this particular shade from lime crime to ABH to much pocket friendly nyx..but since I knew I wouldn't wear this every now and then I didn't wanna spend so much on it. So after searching high and low I landed to our good old Maybelline.
( If you are looking for a gorgeous purple lipstick from the drugstore..a la Mac Heroine..Click Here)
The lipstick in question is Maybelline Creamy Matte in the shade Burgundy Blush.

Price: INR 575 /-

Packaging:

I have nothing great to reveal in the packaging department because:
A) Maybelline Creamy Lipsticks aren't new in the market and there is a possibility you already own one of its variant.
B) Maybelline hasn't explored any new territory in the packaging department.
Comes in the regular Maybelline colour sensational tube with a cool brown matte translucent cap.
The sticker having the shade name is colour coded.

Shade:

THE reason why I bought this lipstick is its ultra gorgeous dark chocolate with a hint of deep burgundy (ox-blood) shade. This is EXACTLY what I was hunting for. Burgundy Blush is a pretty close dupe of Lime Crime Wicked and Anastasia Beverly Hills Heathers. I can even trace its similarity with Nyx Soft Matte Lip Cream in Transylvania which is a cult favourite fall lippy. It is clearly the deepest shade in my stash and I can see myself wearing it hell lot this winter.
Oh yes!! It makes teeth appear much whiter!
LOVE LOVE LOVE!!

Texture:
If I had two hearts I would give one to this shade and another to its texture. It is very smooth to apply and it right away settles to a matte finish. The formula is very comfortable and non-drying. Its very light weight and feels like nothing on the lips.
Absolutely non-sticky...Absolute love!

Pigmentation:
BOMB!! Need I say more.. One swipe is all you need baby!!

Staying Power:
If you follow me on instagram, I posted a pic of me wearing this  and it looked pretty presentable even after 9 longs hours. It doesn't stain but it doesn't move either.

How it looks on me..!

If you ever wished to have a deeeeeep lipstick for fall..BUY THIS asap!!

Rating: 5/5

Maybelline Color Sensational Loaded Bolds In Fearless Purple 16: Review, Price and FOTD

19.8.17 14 Comments
Maybelline is one drugstore beauty brand that I totally love. It never fails to experiment and always remembers to fall in budget and to me these are two hugest clap-worthy qualities of a brand.
While taking a stroll of my blog I realized that even though I love and use Maybelline products a lot, I haven't reviewed them much. So, here I am with a much loved Maybelline Loaded Bolds Lipstick in Fearless Purple..!!
Brand Claims:

What it is

Achieve high-impact color in one saturated stroke with Maybelline's The Loaded Bolds lipstick. Hypercolor pigments and an opaque, creamy clay base deliver one-stroke intensity. The Loaded Bolds is available in a range of pigment-loaded shades from deep plums and electric blues to vibrant reds and natural nudes.

Benefits

1. Delivers high-impact color in one saturated stroke.
2. An opaque, creamy clay base deliver one-stroke intensity.
3. Dermatologist and allergy tested.

How to use/apply

STEP 1: Apply lipstick in the center of your upper lip and follow the contours of your mouth.
STEP 2: Glide the lipstick across the entire bottom lip

 Price/ Quantity: INR 575/3.9gm

Shades Available:
  • Wickedly White
  • Berry Boss
  • Chocoholic
  • Dynamite Red
  • Fearless Purple (the one I have)
  • Fierce Fuchsia
  • Midnight Date
  • Raspberry Rendezvous
  • Smoking Red
  • Sunny Coral
  • Baby Pink
  • Audacious Blue
  • Black
(There are other shades available at Amazon that haven't been launched in India and give MAC a run for its cost :P)
Ingredients:

Packaging:

No ground-breaking is happening here. Maybelline Color Sensational Loaded Bolds come in a regular color sensational range packaging. Just that the bullet cap coordinates to the colour family of the shade (they could have atleast properly colour-coded it i.e. the exact shade and not the colour-family)
Also, the bullet in my case is totally detached from the very base. Nooo..not broken..just that the whole bullet comes out clean from the base....which indicates..its weak!

Shade: Fearless Purple

Well the shade is what it says "Fearless Purple".
The sad part is that the camera isn't picking up the exact colour. Its deeper, more cool toned and less bright than what it appears here. The shade is a true purple. I didn't notice any undertones,it is pretty no-nonsense beautiful purple.
I would go on to say that it is hard to find this shade in drugstore brands. I did look for it earlier but all in vain!
The hush-hush beauty information is that Fearless Purple is a close dupe of Mac Heroine, since I don't own Heroine I can't claim it to be true!
Anyway, it will go well with all skintones equally.
SUPER LOVE the shade!!!

         Texture:
It is creamy to apply and feel..a dream..I know..!!
It settles to a matte finish but not the drying, stretchy, dehydrated matte but a rather luscious matte.
It transfers slightly initially but that doesn't hamper its intensity and finish. Even after settling to a matte finish, it does not accentuate the fine lies which is pretty uncommon for the matte lipsticks.

Pigmentation:
This is hell of a pigmented lipstick. LOADED and BOLD both. Loaded and jam packed with pigment. It is truly a one-swipe lipstick and takes care of any amount of pigmentation you have on the lips.

Staying Power:
Hell Yeahhhh..I was waiting for this. It stayed on me WHOLE DAY.. and saw me through breakfast, lunch and dinner. Oh yess!! It just won't go.
Now if you hate lipsticks that stain..switch tab..this isn't for you!!!
Even after 9+ hours, Fearless Purple didn't wear off, infact I was still pretty presentable lips-wise :P
It stains really badly and you'll need help of removers and oils to get rid of it.

Here's how it looks on me (though actually it comes out darker)

Over All Thoughts:
In love with the shade, texture and staying power!!
If you want to buy just one shade from the Maybelline Color Sensational Loaded Bolds range of lipsticks..buy FEARLESS PURPLE!

Deepika Padukone INSPIRED Makeup Look!!

19.7.17 13 Comments
Inspired Looks are fun...be it watching or recreating myself. I would still maintain what I said in my Priyanka Chopra Inspired Look that watching transformation videos is probably my favourite leisure activity. I don't really know how far I do justice with the looks but the amount of love I received from you all for my Devasena Inspired Look of Bahubali and others keeps me going.

Deepika's Look
Coming to this picture of Deepika, ever since I came across it in Piku days I wanted to give it a try but something or the other kept emerging and the much wanted got delayed.
What I particularly liked about this look is that it is pretty much non-fussy..less-drama..true-to-me sort of a look. I love the sheer coverage of her foundation and the little imperfections of the skin showing through...gets real!! Her makeup artist has majorly played with her eyebrows and eyes only while keeping the rest muted. I also don't see much contour/highlight going on,though a subtle blush is visible for sure. The muted nude lips are the best choice for those heavily kohled eyes.
The look gets enhanced by her beautiful deep red and black chanderi saree with that thin golden border. The chaandbaalis did full justice to her evening out/occasion look.

Products Used
This is probably THE only look where I've used least amount of products. ( I hope you find them least since I use more than this for a regular occasion ;)
Getting back to the products used:
Face:
Eyes:
 Lips:
 How I Did!!

  • Since Deepika had a very basic and sheer makeup base, I skipped the primer and concealer and applied a very thin layer of foundation which was followed by the pressed powder just under the eyes and T-zone!
  • Its probably for the first time that I skipped contouring and highlighting rather just applied the blush with the lightest hand on the apples of my cheek.
  • I applied an orangey nude eyeshadow as the transition shade and a wash of matte black eyeshadow all over the lid. I applied the maybelline gel eyeliner giving it a slight wing and kohl in the waterline and tight-lined too.
  • I skipped the falsies and just applies 2-3 coats of mascara.
  • For the lips, I first applies the lipstick and then topped it with the lip cream for a nude matte look.
  • Bindi, chaandbaali and saree in a similar hue completed the look.

Hope you guys like it!
Let me know in the comment box if you want me to do recreate a particular look :)

Recreating Anushka Shetty's Devasena Look of Bahubali 2

1.5.17 12 Comments
Hallllooo Bellezas..!!!
Its been some time that I posted..writer's block..artist's block..blogger's block..or probably looking for something exciting other than the mundane review posting. Having said that,it's not like I don't like writing reviews but I go through passion-shifting phases in life ;) :P
Anyway, while the world is going gaga over Bahubali-2, I couldn't be left behind. It has been on a smashing ride on the box office ever since its release and this brought me to the idea of recreating the look of the female protagonist Devasena (played by Anushka Shetty) A little about the character:
Devasena (Anushka Shetty) is a princess from Kunthala region, a small but prosperous region in the fictional universe of Mahishmati. She is accomplished, a great warrior and archer who is constantly trying to better her art through diligent practice. Bahubali seems to be impressed more by her technique of martial arts than her beauty — he doesn’t just think of her as a beautiful person, but as someone much more than.
(Source: www.firstpost.com)

Now coming to back to the look that I have created:

Being honest, I've always loved taking part in programmes that required me to dress up in a regional attire..be it dance, skits and stuff at different academic levels. I'm so mesmerized by our country and its resplendent culture that even when I plan a vacation, I try to geographically cover the scattered Indian topographical beauty and foreign lands are still at bay even in my wishlist :)
Given my obsession to our culture and the rave that Bahubali 2 is creating, I thought why not make the most of it and Recreate my version of Devasena. Since Devasena is a princess, the look is a super glam one with heavily kohled eyes and bright attire. Gold jewellery is a characteristic feature of South India and Devasena being a royal couldn't be left behind.
To start off I searched my wardrobe for similar coloured saree and blouse of a matching hue (though it did not match :P) I found this bright hot pink saree with pearl embroidery that I wore for my engagement and the blue kanjivaram blouse is probably the only blue blouse I have!
The second major concern was the jewellery since makeup I knew I had plenty ;) The maangtika is from my wedding. The nath is Maharashtrian nath and I added my own nath's string to it to match the look. I obviously don't have the piercing to wear a septum ring or mookuthi as they call it in south India, so I wore a clip on ear cuff to do justice with the look. The jhumkaas and neckpiece are from my old ethnic jewellery collection.
Now coming to the makeup:

The feature that caught my attention was the heavy kohled eyes and the artistically painted bindi. But since a makeup base is a first step, after moisturizing my skin I applied Colorbar primer followed by Maybelline Fit Me matte n poreless foundation. I applied the Maybelline Fit Me compact only on the under eyes and the sides of the nose which tend to get oily otherwise. Even though the camera isn't catching,I applied The Balm Bahama Mama bronzer and wet n wild blush in pearlescent pink. For the quintessential kohled eyes, I applied a splash of dark brown eyeshadow and lined my upper lash line with the Lakme felt tip eyeliner. I lined my waterline with Lakme Eyeconic kajal and used the Lakme liquid eyeliner for the lower lash line. I applied a mild layer of Maybelline colossal mascara on the eyelashes thinking to wear the falsies later...which I FORGOT :P
For the lips I mixed Lakme 9to5 Rosy Sunday
For the bindi I was pretty purplexed. I searched everything in the house from liquid kumkum to poster colours and I had none.. after searching high and low (yes a BUDGET belleza won't buy stuff for a look..she would just work around what she has :P)
I landed on a liquid lipstick which was way too dark..I mixed some red lipstick (L'oreal Decked in Red) and painted the bindi with a triple 0 paint brush!
That's All folks!!! Hope you will like what I came up with :)
Pray to God I stay motivated to do more stuff :P
I'm praying too :D

Priyanka Chopra INSPIRED makeup look for Fall/Autum

9.12.16 6 Comments
As a makeup enthusiast and a YouTube addict, my favourite category is either swatch videos or recreating celebrity makeup looks. Oh! hoe I love seeing the transformation of one person into another just by the power of makeup. I really find them highly creative rather than the random haul videos. If I am to name a few of my favourite inspired look videos (which are tons off course) I would pick JLo's inpired makeup tutorial by Huda , Kylie Jenner inspired makeup by Roxette Arisa , Penelope Cruz inspired makeup by Makeup By Ani among the the huge talented lots.
Now that we are desi , we wouldn't be able to do justice with an international look given our skin tone, eye colour and hair colour. The reason being just mentioned I earlier decided to do an Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's Cannes inspired makeup look earlier which received so much love from you guys and now I came across this image of our very own Priyanka Chopra when she attended the Marrakech International Film Festival and her net saree and lace blouse became the talk of the town! I've always liked Priyanka's style of dressing even though I don't find her experimenting with her makeup much. She always sticks to her matte makeup base and matte lips , generally playing around earthy tones and nudes. But at this paticular event she turned up in smokey eyes , pink lips and very pronounced pink blusher.
Here's my attempt at recreating it:

And Here's how to achieve it:
Face
For the face, I started with Patanjali Aloevera gel as a primer/pre base. I wanted a clean and covered base thus I used Maybelline Matte and Poreless foundation for it. For my NC30ish skin tone I mixed the shades Sun Beige(310) and Natural Buff(230) to get the correct match. I generally use Real Technique Sponge to apply my foundations and did the same for this look as well. For setting the makeup I used Lotus Herbals Pure Radiance Natural compact in Caramel. Since it wasn't a chiseled out look and not harsh contour or highlight was obvious, I used a very light hand at giving dimension to the face using Kat Von d Shade Light palette. Blush was majorly visible on Priyanka so I used Wet n Wild Pearlescent Pink with a rather heavy hand than I usually do. The blusher itself has shimmers so I skipped using a highlighter altogether.
And this is how it came out!

 Eyes
Priyanka was seen sporting a deep smokey eye for the event and to achieve a similar look I used Bys Eyeshadow mousse as the eye base and then used the shades Custom and Strong from my New Trals Vs Neutrals Palette by Makeup Revolution
For the eyeliner , Maybelline gel liner was put to use and I skipped the falsies and just used Oriflame Giordani Glod masacara to open up the eyes and finish the look.
For the eye brows I used a matte dark brown eyeshadow to fill and shape and brushed it out to avoid too harsh brows.
Lips
Priyanka Chopra is a brand ambassador for matte lips. Even when the whole bollywood was wearing creamy , satiny , glossy lips, Priyanka stuck to her matte nudes...much much before the matte lip trend. In the images above too she is seen wearing deep fuchsia with purple undertones. Lakme Absolute Lip Pout in Magenta Magic was quite close to her shade but it required a slight dash of purple for which I mixed a little bit of Huda Beauty Material Girl.
That's pretty much all that was done to achieve the Priyanka Chopra look!!!

Hope you guys like it :D

Festive Update - Navratri / Durga Pooja Look !!

30.9.16 15 Comments
It's finally achche din for us Indians with festivities beginning. The whole aura is such colour, aroma, flavor, laughter and happiness filled. In any case festivities are all the more harbinger of happiness to a makeup enthusiast when you can finally go all bold-gold without fearing being a disco ball.. Oh Yeah...you CAN be a disco ball with a panache!!
I wanted to leave no opportunity to doll-up since I almost never dare to go with both lips and eyes...yesss!! It either has to be a social gathering or a festival for me to have sparkly dark eyes and a red lip.. I've seen as much as I love makeup, I love underplaying too :) But this time like you see, I enjoyed playing with colours and I'm pretty happy with the outcome specially when compared to my previous Navratri Look.

The product used for the look are as follows:

Eyebrow Tutorial : How To Get Beautiful Thick Brows In 6 Easy Steps !!

12.9.16 4 Comments
You Guessed it right..Its the Eyebrow Tutorial today!!
And before I start, I would like to thank all of you for the love and support you have shown. All of you who have appreciated my work and came up to clear your thoughts or request a tutorial whether as direct messages on instagram or texts on facebook and even emails.. take this as a personal thank note !!
I have always felt that out of all our facial features, beauty passions, cosmetic buys and makeup discussions EYEBROWS have been the most underrated feature of our face. When we think of dressing up, makeup base (foundation), lip products and eyeshadows are our major concern and we quite at times overlook the fact that eyebrows are a very essential facial feature that needs due recognition. Eyebrows provide a frame to the face and if done properly ,they lift up your whole look. In the absence of neatly and prominently done eyebrows the face looks incomplete even if rest of the makeup is on point.
And you guys..thick, groomed brows were the latest trend that came across even in the recent New York Fashion Week!!
So beauties...DON'T ignore thy brows!!
Without further delay..lets get started!!

Things You'll Need (in order of usage) :
  • Tweezers
  • Eyebrow groomer brush (even a toothbrush works)
  • Small angled brush
  • Brow powder/Matte Brown Eyeshadow/ Matte Brown Gel Liner
  • Concealer
  • Flat Concealer Brush
  • Q-tip
  • Brow Gel/Hair Spray with a Spoolie
Method:

1. Shaping : First of all you need a clean slate to work on. Any amount of precision would not look beautiful if tiny little hair are sticking out of the brow line. So pick up your tweezers and pluck all the extra hair to get a clean brow area. Also generally when we do things ourselves,we tend to ignore the area above our brows and concentrate mainly on the brow bone zone. Don't do that, take out the extras from below and above your brow.

2. Brushing/Grooming : Now that you have cleaned your brows of any extra hair, brush them with an eyebrow groomer to make them smooth and to expose the areas that need to be filled in the next step. If you have a well-practiced hand then you can even cut any hair that's sticking out of the brows. But leave this step if you don't have a steady hand. In case you don't have an eyebrow groomer brush, you can use a baby brush which serves the purpose just right.

3. Filling : Third step is the main step...Filling your brows. Now there's a plethora of eyebrow filling products from the good old eyebrow pencils to brow powders and wax to even brow mousse with a mascara like (spoolie) wand. Traditionally, we rely on eyebrow pencils to fill our brows but i find them looking too harsh on me. Truly speaking you can use ANY MATTE DARK BROWN EYESHADOW OR BRONZER for a natural looking fuller eyebrows.
I personally alternate between a slightly dry dark brown gel eyeliner, The Balm Bahama Mama bronzer or even the dark brown eyeshadow from the Maybelline Chai Latte Quad.
With an angled brush draw a defined line below and above your brow if you have sparse eyebrows (in case you already have thick brows, just draw a line along the brow line). While filling your brows, apply very light strokes on the inner and outer end because it looks really unnatural if you do the beginning and end heavily. You can apply with a little heavy hand on the arch of the brow though.

4. Clean Up The Mess: This is easy..take a q-tip and clean up any product that has come out of the brows (below and above).

5.  Highlighting: This is an underrated yet very important step. Once you are done with shaping and filling your brows, take a concealer that is one or two shades lighter to your skin tone and highlight just below and above your brow. Blend it well (you can totally use your fingers instead of the concealer brush). This will pop out your brows beautifully and give a nice frame to the face.

 6. Apply Gel and Let It Set: Now that your eyebrow is groomed, filled and highlighted, apply some gel on them and brush with a groomer or spoolie (or again..a baby brush) so that they stay in their place and don't budge. There are various options in the market for brow gels, however I use Patanjali Aloevera Gel and it does its job. A spoolie sprayed with a hair spray is a popular budget hack to replace an expensive brow gel.
TaaaDaaaaa...You're done!!!
Here's the complete look:

I tried incorporating everything that I personally do for my brows though there are much extensive ways of doing it.
Hope you guys liked it :)
