Lakme Absolute Gel Stylist Nail Poliosh in Daisy Blue: Review, Price and NOTD

13.5.19 2 Comments
Totally in the blue phase these days.. so much so that I even bought blue curtains for the summer.  Wherever I go these days, my eyes are just looking for hues from navy blue to powder blue to even periwinkles. Anyway...jumping straight into the review...
Following my heart I bought this DAISY BLUE nail paint from Lakme Absolute Gel Stylist range although I noticed later I had same shade from another brand already in my nail polish collection. Meh!

  Price/Quantity : 300/ 15 ml

 My Quick 2 Cents:
  • The shade is a beautiful sky blue..perfect for summer!
  • Brush is broad and fluffy.
  • Quite a lot of quantity.
  • Dries up fast thus saving the smudge.
  • Gives a glossy finish.
  • Stayed chip free for more than a week.
  • Is available at 20-30% discount on some or the other online shopping portal all the time.
Over All Thoughts
It gets a 5 on 5 from me!

Lakme 9 To 5 Lipstick in Coffee Command : Review, Price and Swatches

27.10.17 0 Comments
I have been been a nude lips lover all my life. Even being a makeup enthusiast, I can't imagine myself wearing a bold lip colour every single day. Also, nude lips compliment a bold eye look very well. So basic neutral MLBB kinda shades are a win-win in any scenario!!
My love for Lakme 9 to 5 Lipsticks isn't hidden. They are most comfortable and lasting mattes I've come across in the this price bracket. Hence, another addition to the family is Coffee Command!

Price/ Quantity : INR 450/ 3.6ml

Packaging:
Coffee Command comes in Lakme 9 to 5's quintessential rose gold tube housed in a cardboard box. Their packaging is another reason apart from their formula and longevity that makes me want them more.

Shade:
Coffee Command is reeeelly reeeelly close to my natural lip colour. I mean there's nothing in my collection that matches my natural lips more than this particular shade.
Though the camera made it look more mauvy pink in the image above,I find it more on the peachy side. So, if you are looking for a peachy nude lipstick ,look no further. Also, since it comes out pretty pale on my NC 30ish skin tone, I can see it washing out complexions above NC 40.

Texture:
Lakme 9 to 5, I repeat are the most comfortable matte lipsticks in this price range. It is velvet to apply and sets matte. It has no fragrance to bother our sensitive noses.

Pigmentation:
Talking about the pigmentation of pale nudes is a tricky thing to attempt. But like its other counterparts, Coffee Command even being a pale peachy nude is well pigmented..just that the shade is light enough and might ask for a reapplication after 4hours of wear time.

My Take:

If you like peachy nude lipsticks or if you are an eye makeup enthusiast then this is the shade and formula for you since I often like pairing up smokey eye with a peachy nude lip. It might wash you out if you are on the duskier and warmer shade of the spectrum.

Deepika Padukone INSPIRED Makeup Look!!

19.7.17 13 Comments
Inspired Looks are fun...be it watching or recreating myself. I would still maintain what I said in my Priyanka Chopra Inspired Look that watching transformation videos is probably my favourite leisure activity. I don't really know how far I do justice with the looks but the amount of love I received from you all for my Devasena Inspired Look of Bahubali and others keeps me going.

Deepika's Look
Coming to this picture of Deepika, ever since I came across it in Piku days I wanted to give it a try but something or the other kept emerging and the much wanted got delayed.
What I particularly liked about this look is that it is pretty much non-fussy..less-drama..true-to-me sort of a look. I love the sheer coverage of her foundation and the little imperfections of the skin showing through...gets real!! Her makeup artist has majorly played with her eyebrows and eyes only while keeping the rest muted. I also don't see much contour/highlight going on,though a subtle blush is visible for sure. The muted nude lips are the best choice for those heavily kohled eyes.
The look gets enhanced by her beautiful deep red and black chanderi saree with that thin golden border. The chaandbaalis did full justice to her evening out/occasion look.

Products Used
This is probably THE only look where I've used least amount of products. ( I hope you find them least since I use more than this for a regular occasion ;)
Getting back to the products used:
Face:
Eyes:
 Lips:
 How I Did!!

  • Since Deepika had a very basic and sheer makeup base, I skipped the primer and concealer and applied a very thin layer of foundation which was followed by the pressed powder just under the eyes and T-zone!
  • Its probably for the first time that I skipped contouring and highlighting rather just applied the blush with the lightest hand on the apples of my cheek.
  • I applied an orangey nude eyeshadow as the transition shade and a wash of matte black eyeshadow all over the lid. I applied the maybelline gel eyeliner giving it a slight wing and kohl in the waterline and tight-lined too.
  • I skipped the falsies and just applies 2-3 coats of mascara.
  • For the lips, I first applies the lipstick and then topped it with the lip cream for a nude matte look.
  • Bindi, chaandbaali and saree in a similar hue completed the look.

Hope you guys like it!
Let me know in the comment box if you want me to do recreate a particular look :)

Lakme Enrich Lip Crayon in Cinnamon Brown and Pink Burst: Review, Price, Swatches and LOTD

10.7.17 6 Comments
Lakme Enrich Satin Crayon In Cinnamon Brown and Pink Burst
Its lovely when good brands come up with budget friendly products to cater to a wider array of population. The well known brand Lakme was in the game of chubby sticks and has launched the Lakme Absolute Lip Pout in matte and cream textures long back which I totally love and recommend. They were priced around 650/- Now Lakme has launched the much mini and affordable versions of it in the form of Lakme Enrich Lip Crayons at  almost the price of a lip balm (both are not comparable though since they belong to different range/lines of lakme)

Brand Claims: Embrace the all new formulated lip colour crayon by Lakmé and use your lips like a canvas to create a vibrant look.
Get smooth and matte finish lips with this lip colour crayon by Lakmé that is infused with mineral powders. It has a soft texture and is available in 10 gorgeous shades that suit all Indian skin tones. It also has a rich blend of olive and jojoba oil that simultaneously conditions your lips. For your convenience, the all new Lakmé Enrich Lip Crayon comes with a sharpener.
Application:
Step 1: Open the cap and start applying the product from the centre of your upper lip.
Step 2: Worked from the centre towards the outer edges of your lip, following the contours of your mouth.
Step 3: Glide the product across the entire bottom lip.
Step 4: This step is optional but you could use a tissue to blot out the extra product.

Price/Quantity: INR 185/2.2gm

Packaging:
Lakme Enrich Satin Crayon In Cinnamon Brown and Pink Burst
Remove their caps and they actually look like crayons. The colour-coded label all over the crayon is a big help (remember, in my last post how much I cribbed about the similar look of all 9to5 weightless matte mousse?) Their tip is sharper than the usual chubby sticks, thus allows a more precise application on the outline of lips. Being just 2.2g they are definitely handy and promise that for once you'll be able to use up the product before it touches its expiry date (Infact, I actually dream of a day when brands will come out with their sample sizes of mid-high range product line)
They need to be sharpened which is a con but they give a dual sharpener free with the product which is a big Yes!

Shades: Pink Burst and Cinnamon Brown
Lakme Enrich Satin Crayon In Pink Burst and Cinnamon Brown
Pink Burst
Lakme Enrich Lip Crayon in Pink Burst
Pink Burst is a bright fuchsia shade and has fine silver shimmer that isn't easily visible. Its a beautiful shade and perks up the whole look. It somehow makes my face appear very flawless and smooth. I'm gonna rock this one in these monsoons!!

Cinnamon Brown
Lakmje Enrich Lip Crayon in Cinnamon Brown
Cinnamon Brown is a Beautiful cool-toned mauvy brown. I particularly love this shade and this is going to be my go-to shade for the coming few days. On my NC30 skin tone, it comes out as a perrrrfect MLBB shade. Since the shade isn't too deep and warm it might wash out deeper beauties.
Nonetheless,it will be a great lippy for college going girls and for everyday office wear.
( I might finish it up in 2 months)

Texture:
I didn't have high hopes from this Lip crayon given the price bracket it was falling in but surprisingly it ain't bad! It has a slightly thick velvetty texture that is pretty hydrating on the lips. Infact it is a good change from the drying mattes in my stash. It applies smoothly and does not accentuate fine lines. Its not a true matte instead a demi-matte lipstick which only makes it better. It definitely has a particular fragrance to it that I don't like and
that reminds me of my mom's lakme enrich lipsticks
(the maroon case one)

Pigmentation and Staying Power:
Pink Burst is packed with pigments and stayed on me for 6+ hours with meals leaving behind a beautiful pink tint whereas Cinnamon Brown has medium pigmentation and comparatively lower longevity but then it is a lighter shade too!

Over All Thoughts:
I'm happy that Lakme came out with this product that doesn't pinch the pocket and surprisingly fares well too. I can see it being popular with the youngistan and those who like to try new shades without risking much money.

Lakme 9to5 Weightless Matte Mousse Lip and Cheek Colour in COCOA SOFT: Review, Price, Swatches and FOTD

8.7.17 1 Comments
Well it's World Chocolate Day today and what could be a better way to celebrate it than wear a chocolate coloured lipstick and review it too :D
So many times I've come across people dreading brown lipsticks but I have somehow always loved them...from MLBB lipstick shades..to much raved nude lipsticks..to lattes and finally deep chocolate browns..I love'em allllll!!!
Heading over to this beauty called Lakme 9to5 Weightless Matte Mousse Lip and Cheek Color in Cocoa Soft

Brand Claims:
An explosion of colour to your daily makeup routine, Lakmé 9to5 Mousse Lip and Cheek Color is here.
Description:
Lakmé’s first ever lip color in a mousse texture is super weightless and can be used as a cheek tint too. Available in 10 intense and vibrant shades, they last long and have a powdery matte finish. It’s 2 in 2 formula makes it an instant everyday favourite for the modern Indian woman of today.
Application:
Step 1: Open the cap.
Step 2: Start applying from the centre of your upper lip.
Step 3: Work from the centre towards the outer edges of your lip, following the contours of your mouth.
Step 4: Glide across the entire bottom lip.
Step 5: To apply it on your cheeks, gently rub it onto the apples.

Price: INR 575/-

Packaging:

The packaging of this beauty is in line with the Lakme 9to5 range, with that rose gold cap shining bright. Sadly, neither the tube is transparent nor colour-coded. So if you have more than one shade of it and you plan to apply it and rush to your
college/office/any-damn-where--->your life is in trouble since all the shades appear same through the packaging. Long story short-some colour coding would have been wise on their part and convenient to us.
Now coming to the wand part, this is THE BEST WAND I've ever used...ever!! It has a small depression kinda thing in the centre that holds up the product and packs well on lips. The wand is flexible and allows comfortable movement along the lips outline. I personally loved the pointed tip of it which isn't that commonly found in liquid lipsticks but is an absolute must. It allows very precise application.

Shade: Cocoa Soft

The shade Cocoa Soft is a rich chocolate brown shade with a beautiful warm undertone. It will look beautiful on all skintones..fair,medium,deep!!
Now that it is meant to be applied on both lips and cheeks, I did give it a try to see if that actually works. In the images above I'm wearing it as a contour too,but to be honest even though it is blendable, I don't find working with this on cheeks is my kinda thing.
It is buildable and goes from nice warm chocolate to deep vampy dark chocolate brown! Fall fashion would see me flaunting this alot!

Texture:
Lakme 9to5 Weightless Matte Mousse Lip and Cheek Color in Cocoa Soft is by far the most comfortable liquid  I've used till date. They've practically said it all about the texture in the product name itself...Weightless Matte Mousse and true that. It has a mousse/lip cream kinda consistency that is thick enough. Even though the formula is rich and creamy, you won't feel you are wearing any lip colour at all.
Its matte yet doesn't accentuate the fine lines..BEAT THAT!!
It has a very caramel'ly scent to it..very eclairs toffee kinds!

Pigmentation:
It is nicely pigmented but you anyway need 2-3 swipes of the product for a nice, even, seamless finish!

Staying Power:
The longevity of the product is impressive. It survived a meal and two coffees over a period of 6 hours!
Ahhhhhmaaazing!!!

Over All Thoughts:
I was a big fan of Lakme 9to5 range be it their Lipliners or Lipsticks and this Lip and Cheek Colour is definitely a lovely addition to the family. Consider me a convert!!

Makeup Revolution Eat Sleep Makeup Repeat Pro Looks Palette : Review, Price, Swatches and EOTD

27.5.17 4 Comments

Halllllllo Bellezas....!!!
This is my second Makeup Revolution eyeshadow palette, the first being the New-Trals Vs. Neutrals is an absolute favourite. On a normal day, I'm a neutral eyeshadow kinda person and THIS is definitely the brightest and most colourful palette in my stash. Liking an eyeshadow palette is really a task for me because I want it to be as versatile as possible (Gimme a rainbow for a palette :D) I can seriously never pay big bucks for ten similar looking eyeshadows of apparently similar finishes. If you too like me prefer a palette that has a multitude of shades and finishes..come on board 'coz we've got you covered!

Price: 6 GBP
(Interestingly, each online website be it flipkart, nykaa, jabong etc.is showing a different MRP for this palette although its discounted everywhere, so incase you are interested in owning it take a look around!)

There isn't anything particularly revolutionary about the packaging of the EAT SLEEP MAKEUP REPEAT palette, nor do they need one. Makeup Revolution palettes are neat and practical with a huge mirror. The shade names are printed on a transparent plastic sheet placed above the shadows and not engraved on the palette like the most high end ones and if you loose the label sheet, you loose the names as well..I know Duh! The sponge applicator provided is probably of no use. Since the name suggests (3Looks in 1 Palette), the palette is divided into 3blocks of 5 eyeshadows each (out of which, one is a highlighter) thus 15 eyeshadows.

The palette houses 15 shades in three different categories:
  • Reds/Pinks
  • Green/Yellow
  • Blue/Purple
  • Each category has a highlighter.

Reds/Pinks
  • Rave On- White highlighter, matte, chalky, poor pigmentation!...DUD!!
  • Say It Now- Coral Red with silver shimmers, satin finish, very pigmented.
  • Right Now- Hot Pink(neon), matte, poor pigmentation.
  • Right Here- Purple with magenta undertones, duo-chrome,shimmery,highly pigmented...LOVE!!!
  • Final Track- Rani Pink (cool toned fuschia),slightly duo-chrome,pigmentation is neither great nor bad.
Greens/Yellows
  • Rave Off-  Silver highlighter,shimmery,pigmented.
  • Needle On- Moss Green,foiled kinda finish,pigmented...LOVE!!!
  • Hot Track- Lime Green (neon),matte, very poor pigmentation (had to dig in finger to show the colour)..DUD!!!
  • Re-mix- Deep Forest Green,shimmery,highly pigmented...LOVE!!!
  • Eat Everything- Olive Green/Heena Green, satin finish, pigmented.
Blues/Purples
  • Repeat Again- Metallic Silver,super shimmery,foil finish,highly pigmented,STAR PERFORMER!!
  • Sleep All Day- Cobalt Blue, matte, pigmented.
  • Rave All Night- Denim Blue with minuscule silver shimmers, cool toned, satin finish, well pigmented.
  •  Magician- Deep Mauve, matte, poorly pigmented...DUD!!!
  • Ibiza Heaven- Violet,satin finish,pigmented.
And Here's my attempt to create three different looks with this :)

Overall, the mattes and neons failed badly while rest of the 12 shades are amazing value for money.
This isn't the palette for the weak-hearted for sure and this is
neither the one that I would reach out for often..definitely a neutrals girl!! But this is the palette that every eye makeup enthusiast should stash away for those pop-of-colour moods and versatile looks!!

Recreating Anushka Shetty's Devasena Look of Bahubali 2

1.5.17 12 Comments
Hallllooo Bellezas..!!!
Its been some time that I posted..writer's block..artist's block..blogger's block..or probably looking for something exciting other than the mundane review posting. Having said that,it's not like I don't like writing reviews but I go through passion-shifting phases in life ;) :P
Anyway, while the world is going gaga over Bahubali-2, I couldn't be left behind. It has been on a smashing ride on the box office ever since its release and this brought me to the idea of recreating the look of the female protagonist Devasena (played by Anushka Shetty) A little about the character:
Devasena (Anushka Shetty) is a princess from Kunthala region, a small but prosperous region in the fictional universe of Mahishmati. She is accomplished, a great warrior and archer who is constantly trying to better her art through diligent practice. Bahubali seems to be impressed more by her technique of martial arts than her beauty — he doesn’t just think of her as a beautiful person, but as someone much more than.
(Source: www.firstpost.com)

Now coming to back to the look that I have created:

Being honest, I've always loved taking part in programmes that required me to dress up in a regional attire..be it dance, skits and stuff at different academic levels. I'm so mesmerized by our country and its resplendent culture that even when I plan a vacation, I try to geographically cover the scattered Indian topographical beauty and foreign lands are still at bay even in my wishlist :)
Given my obsession to our culture and the rave that Bahubali 2 is creating, I thought why not make the most of it and Recreate my version of Devasena. Since Devasena is a princess, the look is a super glam one with heavily kohled eyes and bright attire. Gold jewellery is a characteristic feature of South India and Devasena being a royal couldn't be left behind.
To start off I searched my wardrobe for similar coloured saree and blouse of a matching hue (though it did not match :P) I found this bright hot pink saree with pearl embroidery that I wore for my engagement and the blue kanjivaram blouse is probably the only blue blouse I have!
The second major concern was the jewellery since makeup I knew I had plenty ;) The maangtika is from my wedding. The nath is Maharashtrian nath and I added my own nath's string to it to match the look. I obviously don't have the piercing to wear a septum ring or mookuthi as they call it in south India, so I wore a clip on ear cuff to do justice with the look. The jhumkaas and neckpiece are from my old ethnic jewellery collection.
Now coming to the makeup:

The feature that caught my attention was the heavy kohled eyes and the artistically painted bindi. But since a makeup base is a first step, after moisturizing my skin I applied Colorbar primer followed by Maybelline Fit Me matte n poreless foundation. I applied the Maybelline Fit Me compact only on the under eyes and the sides of the nose which tend to get oily otherwise. Even though the camera isn't catching,I applied The Balm Bahama Mama bronzer and wet n wild blush in pearlescent pink. For the quintessential kohled eyes, I applied a splash of dark brown eyeshadow and lined my upper lash line with the Lakme felt tip eyeliner. I lined my waterline with Lakme Eyeconic kajal and used the Lakme liquid eyeliner for the lower lash line. I applied a mild layer of Maybelline colossal mascara on the eyelashes thinking to wear the falsies later...which I FORGOT :P
For the lips I mixed Lakme 9to5 Rosy Sunday
For the bindi I was pretty purplexed. I searched everything in the house from liquid kumkum to poster colours and I had none.. after searching high and low (yes a BUDGET belleza won't buy stuff for a look..she would just work around what she has :P)
I landed on a liquid lipstick which was way too dark..I mixed some red lipstick (L'oreal Decked in Red) and painted the bindi with a triple 0 paint brush!
That's All folks!!! Hope you will like what I came up with :)
Pray to God I stay motivated to do more stuff :P
I'm praying too :D

Priyanka Chopra INSPIRED makeup look for Fall/Autum

9.12.16 6 Comments
As a makeup enthusiast and a YouTube addict, my favourite category is either swatch videos or recreating celebrity makeup looks. Oh! hoe I love seeing the transformation of one person into another just by the power of makeup. I really find them highly creative rather than the random haul videos. If I am to name a few of my favourite inspired look videos (which are tons off course) I would pick JLo's inpired makeup tutorial by Huda , Kylie Jenner inspired makeup by Roxette Arisa , Penelope Cruz inspired makeup by Makeup By Ani among the the huge talented lots.
Now that we are desi , we wouldn't be able to do justice with an international look given our skin tone, eye colour and hair colour. The reason being just mentioned I earlier decided to do an Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's Cannes inspired makeup look earlier which received so much love from you guys and now I came across this image of our very own Priyanka Chopra when she attended the Marrakech International Film Festival and her net saree and lace blouse became the talk of the town! I've always liked Priyanka's style of dressing even though I don't find her experimenting with her makeup much. She always sticks to her matte makeup base and matte lips , generally playing around earthy tones and nudes. But at this paticular event she turned up in smokey eyes , pink lips and very pronounced pink blusher.
Here's my attempt at recreating it:

And Here's how to achieve it:
Face
For the face, I started with Patanjali Aloevera gel as a primer/pre base. I wanted a clean and covered base thus I used Maybelline Matte and Poreless foundation for it. For my NC30ish skin tone I mixed the shades Sun Beige(310) and Natural Buff(230) to get the correct match. I generally use Real Technique Sponge to apply my foundations and did the same for this look as well. For setting the makeup I used Lotus Herbals Pure Radiance Natural compact in Caramel. Since it wasn't a chiseled out look and not harsh contour or highlight was obvious, I used a very light hand at giving dimension to the face using Kat Von d Shade Light palette. Blush was majorly visible on Priyanka so I used Wet n Wild Pearlescent Pink with a rather heavy hand than I usually do. The blusher itself has shimmers so I skipped using a highlighter altogether.
And this is how it came out!

 Eyes
Priyanka was seen sporting a deep smokey eye for the event and to achieve a similar look I used Bys Eyeshadow mousse as the eye base and then used the shades Custom and Strong from my New Trals Vs Neutrals Palette by Makeup Revolution
For the eyeliner , Maybelline gel liner was put to use and I skipped the falsies and just used Oriflame Giordani Glod masacara to open up the eyes and finish the look.
For the eye brows I used a matte dark brown eyeshadow to fill and shape and brushed it out to avoid too harsh brows.
Lips
Priyanka Chopra is a brand ambassador for matte lips. Even when the whole bollywood was wearing creamy , satiny , glossy lips, Priyanka stuck to her matte nudes...much much before the matte lip trend. In the images above too she is seen wearing deep fuchsia with purple undertones. Lakme Absolute Lip Pout in Magenta Magic was quite close to her shade but it required a slight dash of purple for which I mixed a little bit of Huda Beauty Material Girl.
That's pretty much all that was done to achieve the Priyanka Chopra look!!!

Hope you guys like it :D
