Olay Regenerist Advance Cleansing System If You Still Haven't Bought Clarisonic: Review and Price

11.7.15 2 Comments
Chances are if you are reading this post, you have either bought the Clarisonic already or atleast thought about it at some point of time. Though I give a clean skin utmost importance,I don't believe skin cannot stay clean without the usage of an electronic cleansing system. As far as I can remember, the beauty industry insisted we should dig deeper into our pockets to buy an electronic facial cleanser by introducing Clarisonic into the market and along and after came the sister concerns. One such in question today is the Olay Regenerist Advance Cleansing System! It is considered to be one of the budget versions of Clarisonic!

Brand Claims:
Product Benefits:
• Up to 4X better cleansing than cleanser alone
• Gently exfoliates for smooth texture
• Enables better penetration of the actives contained in Micro-Sculpting Cream when used together

Results:
Skin is instantly cleaner, feels fresher.
Skin texture is improved & smoother with continuous usage.
For even more dramatic results, use in combination with Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Serum & Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream.

Product Attributes:
2-Speed Control delivers daily deep cleansing & gentle exfoliation. It is water-resistant for use in shower.
Gentle Brush Head (refills available) - For better removal of dirt & make-up, even in the T-zone & chin. It is specially designed to be gentle on skin for daily use.
2 AA batteries are included

 Directions For Use:

Ingredients:
Water, Glycerin, Lauramidopropyl Betaine, Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate, Oxidized Polyethylene, Sorbitol, Acrylates Copolymer, PEG-200 Hydrogenated Glyceryl Palmate, Citric Acid, Potassium Hydroxide, Polyquaternium-10, PEG-7 Glyceryl Cocoate, PEG-100, Disodium EDTA, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone

Price: INR 4095/-

Packaging:

On unboxing, we get the dual speed control cleansing device,a brush head and two AA batteries. I got two detachable brush heads along with the cleansing system in the kit. I loved the packaging.
Cleansing Device-The cleansing system itself is pretty light weight, handy yet sturdy. It is smaller than the Clarisonic and fits in the hands well. Super travel-friendly being cordless. The device comes with two buttons: first one is power button and the down one offers two speed settings.

Brush Head-The bristles of the brush head are very soft . They rotate 360 degrees to perfectly cleanse the skin. Cleaning the bristles isn't tasking at all. Just running under the tap water and rubbing the thumb over does the job well!

My Experience:
Olay Regenerist Advance Cleansing System
is my first electronic cleansing device. Never thought about the need of one since I was blessed with a good/maintenance free skin. But after having kids and the growing age off course,my focus is somehow shifting towards better skin care than just makeup. It is recommended that this device is used with the Olay regenerist skin renewal cleanser but I use it with my regular Neutrogena cleanser and it works fine for me!
I have had it for quite sometime now and I wanted to use it before writing a review. And now I can say that it has improved my skin quality in the sense that I don't break out at the drop of a hat since I have been using it. Also better cleansing of the skin has resulted in better penetration of moisturizers..gels..serums..face oils, thus increasing the suppleness of the skin! And though it shouldn't be taken as pros..but it gives me a facial kinda feel which is grrrrreattt!

Wrap Up:

  • Cost effective when compared to clarisonic.
  • Small-fits perfectly in hands.
  • Has two speed settings.
  • Battery operated.
  • Travel Friendly
  • Cordless and hassel free.
  • Soft,non-scratchy bristles.
  • Water resistant-can be used in shower.
  • Cleanses reallllllllyyy well.
  • Improves blood circulation.
  • Allows better penetration of the lotions and potions used thereafter.

  • Cant think of any cons!

Boon for All was Bane for Me: Cetaphil Cleanser

7.2.15 4 Comments
Hola Chicas...
Hope you beauties are doin' juss fine!!!
I don't intend to write a REVIEW review but rather a long time no see chit chat and to vent out my feelings (oh yeah! I was devastated) regarding the product that worked fine for 99.9% damsels. The much talked about and the holy grail for so many beauty bloggers and people in general..our very own Cetaphil Cleanser.
You just need to type the name in the Google bar and bombarded you will be with its reviews and add to that positive reviews.

I bought this a while ago when I was literally blessed with good skin hoping to incorporate it in my daily skincare routine. But..but..but!!!
Only using it for a week or so it broke me out badly. Prior to this I always believed that I was blessed with a super tough skin since almost all the products worked for me and even if they didn't make me all glowy, they never reacted this way either.
Cetaphil changed my notion and my skin as well! I'm the one too be blamed for the mushrooming cystic acne that spread all over my face. I thought what works for everyone will work for me too. Secondly, just because last summers made my skin transform from dry to combination, I thought I have a permanent oily skin and bought the one made for it. Thirdly, the SLS may have had an adverse effect on me.
Lesson learnt? What works for the rest of the planet might not work for you..Now I try to choose the skincare products with eyes, ears and mind open.....and fingers crossed!!

Are you Summer Ready?

2.4.13 14 Comments
With Summers knocking at the door, there is something as important as the spring cleaning itself..yes and that is..preparing your skin for the summer heat.
Before you knew it, summer was here. .The time to prepare is now. Here's how:
Step 1: Exfoliate
One of the best ways to prepare your skin for summer is with gentle exfoliation. This process gets rid of dead, dry skin cells, allowing your body to ‘shed’ its winter layer and prepare healthy skin for the start of a new season. Regular exfoliation can be a part of a healthy skin regimen no matter the season; as long as your skin is not sensitive, exfoliation can help you achieve smooth, healthy-looking skin that makes you look more glowing and youthful. The Indian market is flooded with scrubs of all price ranges and to suit all skin types..get one or DIY one!

Step 2: Cleanser
There are several alternatives to soap and water cleansing - facial cleansers which have been developed to deal with cleansing different skin types, and to avoid drying the skin as traditional bar soaps tended to do. These maybe in any form such as creams, milks, liquids, foams, oils, gels and lotions.  In summers,I personally try to avoid creamy, foaming cleansers and use gel cleansers instead.

Step 3: Toner
Refreshing and cooling your skin, toners and astringents quickly evaporate after being applied with cotton wool. They can also remove excess oil from the surface layers of your skin. Those with dry and sensitive skins should avoid these products, as they can be too drying. Generally, if the product stings your face, move onto a gentler foundation or weaken it by adding a few drops of distilled water. Rose water makes a refreshing spray, especially in the dryness of air-conditioned rooms. Since I have a dry skin and it turns combi in summers,I generally don't overdo with toners.
Step 4: Moisturizers/Body Lotions
After you exfoliate, your skin is in one of its most vulnerable stages. This is the most important time to moisturize and re-hydrate your skin. It’s also essential to understand that dry skin has a decreased capacity to heal, making it far more susceptible to various forms of skin damage, such as over-exposure to the sun. Generally, the drier your skin the thicker the moisturizer you should choose. All skin types need a moisturizer, and one of the most valuable ingredients to look for is a UV filter. This ensures your moisturizer will give your skin year-round protection from the burning rays of the sun.But in case of summers try shifting from thick, creamy moisturizers to light weight ones with an SPF.

Step 5: Sunblock
Sunscreen, sunscreen, sunscreen..The use of sunscreen is by far one of the most essential habits to adopt in order to protect your skin from burns, wrinkles, dehydration, early aging and skin cancer. Experts recommend you utilize a water-resistant SPF of 30 or more, even on cloudy days, and reapply approximately every 2 hours.
 Step 6: Smooth Skin
If your summer forecast calls for sunny days outdoors, you may be putting some effort into removing unwanted hair. But once you rip off the wax strip, it’s also important to care for the skin that’s newly exposed to the elements. Give your skin some time to recover before getting active outdoors.Waxed skin is photosensitive and more susceptible to burning, so take extra care to so cover up and wear SPF after waxing. Even aloevera gel is said to have amazing soothing effects for people with sensitive skin. Also, post waxing, a proper at-home exfoliation regimen is key to preventing in-grown hairs.
Step 7: Treat You Feat
If you’ve stuffed your feet inside shoes/boots all winter, they probably need a lil' attention for the sandal/flip flops weather. Jump-start your program with a pedicure. Relax and soak your feet in warm water for a few minutes. Then exfoliate your feet, paying special attention to your heels and toes.Another favorite tricks is to massage your feet with a heavy cream, and then put on a pair of socks before hitting the pillow. Apply your favorite summery shades of nail paints..and you are 'feet ready' :)
P.S. I'm so excited to push away the blacks and blues in my nail paint stash behind and bring forth the corals and pinks :)

Winter Skin Care Favorites

2.2.13 7 Comments
Now when winters are about to say buh-bye and the the products which proved to be saviors in the chilly winters are almost hitting bottoms..I guess I should say thanks to all stuff which helped me keeping me clean, moisturised and supple.
Lets take a look :
These are my random face and body care favorites in no particular order:

1. Jolen Whitening Face Wash Gel:
This was a recent invention by the brand and a discovery by me..Though using gel based cleansers isn't the best option for me in winters, but this one..it didn't break me out, cleansed all makeup thoroughly, didn't make me dry and was on a buy one get one offer.

2. Lotus Herbals Apriscrub:
An old friend of mine..I'm not a great fan scrubs with super-miniscule granules..they do nothing to me..This one's neither too abrasive nor too mild..just apt!

3. Himalaya Herbals Fairness Face Pack:
This works well on me..gives me brighter face and instant glow and is creamy too .So yes, this was a good winter friend :)

4. Avon Care Nourishing Cream:
I have been using the fairness cream from the same range as a regular day cream for the past 3months and I was pretty happy with it,so thought might give this one a try and I like the way it keeps my dry skin moisturised for quite a long time. The smell is little over-powering though!

5. Bvlgari Omnia Crystalline Body Lotion:
This one's a perfumed body lotion .I love love love its smell and how light weight it is on skin.

6. Patanjali Aloevera Gel:
There are very few products which have the capability of being an all-weather favorite..and this is the one! Yup it was ther in my summer favorites list too.But back then I had no idea that it will have a role to play in the chilly weather too. I used it often right after bath on my face,it kind of sealed the moisture and it did lighten a slight pigmentation on my right cheek..love it !

7. The Body Shop Body Butter in Strawberry:
The smell,of this body butter (the USP of all TBS body butters) is very yummy and edible..kinda very sugared strawberries like. The colour of the body butter is soft pink,as if natural strawberries have been whipped with the butter..smells yum, feels yummier!!! About to hit bottom shows how much I love it!

8. Homemade Body Oil:
Last but technically the first in usage and liking. This is my dry skin saviour actually. Used everyday post bath. Can't survive without this. Its is 2parts coconut oil,2parts olive oil and 1part almond oil mixed together 9and stored in an old clean and clear face wash bottle)
Absolute necessity!

These accompanied with a sunny afternnoon,a hot cup of cream coffee and a lovely book to read..mmm I'm already day dreaming!!!!

Garnier Skin Natural Pure Active Pore Unclogging Wash: Review

9.8.12 0 Comments
Well well..this has been the longest pause in my posts evaaaa..So sorry for hibernating for so long. Actually 'hibernating' isn't the correct term as I was connected with all the mails and was going through all the lovely posts from my favourite bloggers,I was just not posting else was updated with all that's going around in the blogosphere. The reason for this long absence were the guests I mentioned in my last post.Anyways. I'm back and so are the rains :)
I was grocery shopping where I came across this Garnier Skin Naturals Pure Active Pore Unclogging wash,it was on a Buy one Get one offer,I bought and now the story begins...

  • 2 Massage

Massage with care concentrating on the areas prone to impurities (forehead, nose, chin) and take care to avoid the eye area.
  • 3 Rinse

Rinse your face thoroughly with warm water.

    Ingredients:

Quantity: 100ml

Price: INR 150/- (I got it in a Buy one Get one Offer)

Packaging:
Garnier Skin Naturals Pure Active Pore Unclogging wash comes in a regular tube packaging. Though the flip open cap fits well with a clicking sound, yet there have been many complaints of product leakage. I would still say the problem is not with the packaging but with the consistency of the face wash!

Consistency:
The consistency of Garnier Skin Naturals Pure Active Pore Unclogging wash is probably its biggest drawback. Its so so runny..OMG. Just take a look at the image below,it says it all!

My Take:
It was a happy weekend evening and I was busy doing my groceries just when my eyes got caught by this international looking white-blue-red tube.I found it attractive at the first sight itself and then my eyes shifted to even more attractive display cards saying BUY 1 GET 1...and there I was walking towards it hiding my inner excitement (that day only I finished my Clean and Clear face wash). I bought one and got one free.Came home happy, reached straight to the washroom to test the new born member in the family (yes I am one of those who might get a panic attack if not given a chance to try their new purchase ASAP..and this applies to everything I buy, from dresses to shoes,to makeup or for that matter even a mint ;)
I opened the flip turned the tube upside down and squeezed...and Oh Boy! my hands were fully slathered with this Garnier Skin Naturals Pure Active Pore Unclogging was. Darn! this thing is crazy runny. Infact,a perfect exaggeration would be that this stuff is just a li'l less runny than water. This is why,I decided not to click the pic with the product in my hands..rather on my hand!
The colour of the face wash is very pale bluish green. Its transparent and smells of menthol.I like its mint-meets-lime fragrance. Its refreshing to me. After washing it gives a cool minty feel to the skin. But it is quite drying to my already dry skin (though these are really high humidity days which give my skin an oily T-zone).

My Likes :)
1. I like the outer packaging.
2. Has a refreshing fragrance.
3. Leaves behind a cool feeling skin.
4. A little amount lathers well.
5. Cheap!

My Dislikes :(
1. Super duper Runny :(
2. Leaks even when the cap is tight enough.
3. Makes me dry.
4. Leaves behind a stretchy feeling.
5. Not travel friendly at all.

Last word: Garnier Skin Naturals Pure Active Pore Unclogging wash might work okay for oily skins but dry skins should not buy it even if you are getting it at a buy1 get 3 free ;)

Repurchase: I'm planning to use it up as a shower gel..do I need to say anything more?

Over All Rating: 2.5/5

*P.S. Which is yours favourite daily face wash?

Himalaya Herbals Deep Cleansing Milk: Review

26.3.12 22 Comments
Getting dolled up is our birth right but removing the paint and powder is our fundamental duty.Of all the sins a woman can commit 'sleeping with makeup on' scores to be the biggest one ;) (thanks to the aftermath..pimples,acne,breakouts...synonyms with a sole result-an added wrinkle on the forehead because of the sheer tension of it).All right, putting exaggerations
aside and coming back to the real world...to rescue out the beauties from the aforesaid situation, the national and international cosmetic markets are flooded with cleansers, cleansing milks, makeup removers and the like.Being "Budget" belleza,I found Himalaya Herbals Deep Cleansing Milk to be one of the most affordable ones coming from a fairly reliable brand as well.

What It Claims:

 Quantity: 200 ml

 Price: INR 105/-
 Ingredients:

Packaging: Himalaya Herbals Deep Cleansing Milk comes in their trademark white plastic bottle with a green flip-open cap.
The cap was so flimsy that it broke the very same week
it was bought (Now I have no option but to open the screw cap everytime I have to use it). Other than that nothing specific to elaborate on.

Consistency:

My Take: After reading and listening so much about the skincare routine in the beauty circles, youtube, beauty blogs and in day-to-day life,I decided to start some kind of a daily, weekly and monthly skin care routine. When I googled about it,I came across the term CTM (yaa yaa..I know all of you know its Cleansing Toning Moisturisng) as often as we sang the national anthem in our school ;)
Without wasting a moment I ordered the requisites from an online shopping site and then came this Himalaya Herbals Deep Cleansing Milk.

Coming from a reliable brand like Himalaya Herbals I had some expectations (if not high hopes) from this product, but it did not make me happy. When I used it for the first time,it actually tested my patience while coming out of the bottle. The consistency is so thick it just doesn't come out of the flip opening.I always have to unscrew the whole cap to get some product after shaking it several times (so the broken flap of the cap was already of no use). By no means should it be called cleansing "milk",its rather a thick cleansing cream.More quantity of it gets used up because of its thick consistency. As far as its makeup removing quality is considered,it does what any other cleansing product would do (Okie..I know it cleansed all the above swatches well but believe me my son's Jhonsons baby lotion too does it equally well). Back home from a party I cleansed my face and was so happy to see the cotton ball all covered up with my makeup, but I thought why not use a makeup removing pad above it to see if there's any trace of makeup left on my face..to my surprise Himalaya Herbals Deep Cleansing Milk had just removed the lipstick and compact, the foundation was very much there on my face which came off with the makeup removing pad.
Post application it leaves the face a bit greasy, you have to either apply a toner or wash the face off with a face wash.Since I have a super dry skin,it worked okay on me in winters (on my skin it wasn't very greasy, rather it moisturised the skin then) but in summers its a no-no for me! Though it claims to be suitable for all skin types,I seriously doubt oily skinned beauties will like it!!

My Likes:)
1.Herbal
2.Inexpensive ;)
3.Unbreakable therefore travel friendly (especially smaller quantities)

My Dislikes:(
1.Formula very thick for cleansing "milk"
2.Brittle flimsy flip cap
3.Not appropriate for deep pore cleansing as it claims.
4.Greasy post application
5.Not for ALL skin types
6.Even though in its inactive ingredients list, there are paraben contents in it
7.Requires cotton pads as against the makeup removing pads and wipes available in the market which are easier and more effective.

Last Word: Himalaya Herbals Deep Cleansing Milk did neither stand true to my expectations nor its own claims.

Repurchase: Hell....NO!

Overall Rating: 2.5/5
