Lakme Absolute Lip Pout Matte in Magenta Magic : Review , Price , Lip Swatches and FOTD

23.10.16 4 Comments
With fall knocking doors, I'm digging into bold and bright lips all the more...and if you ask me what is THE one most used lipstick of mine is these days..YESSS..it's the Lakme Absolute Lip Pout Matte in Magenta Magic. Well, honestly speaking I was never into fuschias and magentas until the recent past and for this I would give credit to the Incolor Matte Me Liquid Lipstick which actually introduced me to the whole new world of Radiant Orchid. Coming back to today's product...I'm in awe of it..SERIOUSLY!! I can actually write a 350 page book on this Chubby stick but I'm definitely gonna curb my desire to do so and give you reader JUST what you need :D
Heading On.......!!

Price vs Quantity: INR 650 / 3.7gm

Packaging:

Lakme Absolute Lip Pout Matte in Magenta Magic comes in a chubby stick like packaging. The outer body is colour coded with the shades which I really appreciate..makes life a bit easier!! The chubby stick is in retractable form, which means no sharpening and thus no wastage of time..effort..and most importantly product ;)

Shade: Magenta Magic
Well Well....!!!
I was waiting for this part of the review. The hunt for a purple-toned fuchsia slash cool-toned magenta slash pinkish radiant orchid etc...an on and on... so the hunt was on for sometime until I landed on the Incolor Matte Me Liquid lipstick
It kinda introduced me to a whole new array of colour but the drying texture of it left me wanting for a similar shade in a non-drying yet matte texture. And one fine day while going through the makeup aisles I saw this and wasted no time and grabbed!
So yeah..long story short..I like my fuchsia and magenta to be cool-toned and Magenta Magic is just that!

Texture
I have little complaints from Lakme when it comes to their matte lip colours from across their range. I have tried a number of their 9 to 5 lipsticks and loved them truly. With these Lip Pouts,Lakme proved again that they KNOW how to create a comfortable matte formula. Magenta Magic glides really easily without any tugging or patchiness and since its new, the pointed end of the bullet works magic in shaping the lips. It settles to a lovely matte finish in 5 minutes and NO even though it is comfortable, its not creamy matte (I hate to be fooled around in the name of matte..I tell yaa)

Pigmentation
Another Yaayyy .. I cannot say about the rest of the shades but this one in particular is well pigmented. Two swipes of it delivered the full intensity of the colour although I still find it buildable.

Longevity
THIS together with the texture and shade make it a 5/5 product for me!! It stayed almost all the day with meals (around 6-7 hours). I can actually never ask for more. Add to that the pretty pink stain that it left behind.. Awwww!! ;)

Leaving y'all with some picture of how it looks on me!!

I would highly recommend you grab it this festive season and this autumn with sales going on everywhere!!

A Lovely Lipstick for Spring: Colorbar Creme Touch lipstick in N*de Coral: Review and Swatches

14.5.14 18 Comments
What does Spring remind you off?
To me its something like this:

All the vibrant hues take a round in-front of my eyes when I say Spring. (Though I still fail to understand why fall collection is so sombre and dark, when the gloomy weather outside actually demands some pop of colour...Fashion gurus in our blogosphere- Please enlighten me!!)
Anyways, come spring and we start shuffling vibrant colours in our wardrobes, accessories and even our very beloved makeup stash. Bye bye plums and violets....hallo corals and mints :)
Heading on to the product in question..It is Colorbar Creme Touch Lipstick in Nude Coral.

Company Claims:
Description:
Colorbar Crème Touch Lipstick comes with the promise of lips that are eloquent and luscious. It comes with lovely rich colours and rich in moisturizing properties making lips look fuller and creamier all day long. It has sheabutter, Vitamin E and sunscreen agents at SPF 15 level which nourish and protect your lips against UV rays. It glides on effortlessly for flawless, even coverage for that perfect pout.
Application:
Line the lips with a suitable lip liner. Press the bullet to the lips using even pressure to apply color on both upper and lower lips: To refresh and even out, press lips together. Using a lip brush gives a richer and more precise color application.
Price/Quantity: INR 475/ 4.5gm

Packaging:
Colorbar Creme Touch Lipstick comes in a beautiful lavender and steel finish packaging, with a silver cardboard carton.
I like it when the product itself has its necessary info rather than just the outer box that it comes in,like this one!
Shade: Nude Coral

Aptly named, its coral and yet its subtle. To all those beauties who want to add spring to their makeup but shy away from head-turning shockingly bright corals and orange.......here's where you should land!!! Its a peachy/orangey nude!! Very fresh and summery!!

Texture:

Keep it in the fridge!! I hope you got my point, yesssss its that creamy and moisturising. But then what else would you expect from a Creme Touch lippy. You won't even need the lip balm beneath even if you wanna wear it on dry lips in cold weather.

Staying Power:
Even after being so creamy it stays for a good 3-4 hours on me. I know that's not super-impressive but given the lip butter kinda texture and a shade not so deep, this is more than my expectations. Plus, even when its gone, its not alllll gone. The lips don't look bare even after it has faded!

My Experience:
I often find myself tussling between what kind of lipstcik finish do I really love. Given the fact that I have dry lips (dry skin all over for that matter) I do find moisturising lippies drool-worthy but this Budget Belleza is not the one who would pop up a lipstick from her purse every now and then and apply and re-apply say in the ladies' room, the car,the elevators....leave alone public transports and restros.. So, I like non-drying lippies which stay put for a good amount of time...a.k.a. Creamy mattes.
Leaving the texture liking story back, this
Colorbar Creme Touch Lipstick in Nude Coral is a hydrating fresh lipstick.

My Likes:
  • Good Packaging.
  • Nicely pigmented.
  • Expiry info on the lipstick bullet.
  • Beautiful summery subtle coral shade.
  • Very moisturising.
  • Satisfying staying power.
  • Covers pigmentation well.
My Dislikes:
  • Might melt in summers..needs to be refrigerated.
  • Not travel-friendly..remember might melt!
  • It transfers.
Last Word:
A lovely subdued coral  for fresher looking face!

Repurchase:
I would definitely like to have this shade is my stash always, but I would search a dupe of this in a less buttery texture.

Over All Rating: 4/5

The best pencil eyeliner I have come across: Faces Canada Long Wear Eye Pencil in Purple: Review ,Swatches and EOTD

19.3.14 21 Comments
Though I can't boast to have tried umpteen colored eye pencils but with whatever little experience I have,I can safely say liquid eyeliners are my pick instead of pencils, felt tips and gel eyeliners. The reason being the amount of control that the brush of liquid eyeliners provide for the that sheer precision. Still..out of all the other brands of eye pencils I have Faces Canada Long Wear Eye Pencils are sure winner!!!
Read on to know why:

Product Claims:
Soft, creamy eye liner pencil glides on easily over the eye lid to define and highlight your eyes. The long staying formula lasts all day, yet is gentle and safe for people with sensitive eyes.

Price Vs. Quantity: INR 349/ 1.15gm

Packaging:
Faces Long Wear  Eye Pencil comes in regular pencil form that needs sharpening. The pencil has a colour codded cap and end which makes it easier to locate. The best part is that it has its basic info on the pencil itself like the manufacturing and expiry dates, weight, price and shade name.

Shade:
Faces Long Wear Eye Pencil comes in a variety of beautiful pigmented shades:
  • Teal
  • Forest Green
  • Purple
  • Solid Black
  • Black Sparkle
  • Metal Brown
  • Navy Blue
  • Turquoise Blue
  • Gray
  • Aqua Blue
  • Metallic Plum
  • Copper Rose
  • Solid Brown
I have Navy Blue,Forest Green and Purple from the lot. Purple is a pure deep deep purple shade. Not plum not lavender...just plain dark purple sans any shimmer. For all those who don't like ultra bright eye looks yet want a pop of colour..this is the one for you and for all those who want to try something other than black yet not eye-turner!!!
Texture:
The texture of Faces Long Wear Eye Pencil is one of the many USPs of this product. It is super-creamy..glides on like a dream...true to the claims!!!

Pigmentation:
Super-pigmented...one swipe and you are good to go. I need another swipe only for the proper finish and not for depositing colour.

Staying Power:
Its a Hero in this department too. Absolutely smudge-free despite being so creamy to apply is the biggest "Yayyyy" feature of the product. Moreover,it beats the Indian Summer Heat too and that too effectively!

This is how it looks on me in different lightings:
My Likes:
  • Smudge-free.
  • Creamy to apply.
  • Well-pigmented.
  • Good for beginners.
  • Purple suits Indian skin tones really well.
  • Colour coded cap and end.
  • Water resistant.
  • Amazing staying power.
  • Matte finish.
  • Water-line safe.
My Dislike:
  • The fact that the brand has risen the price from 249/- to 349/-
  • Sharpening leads to product wastage.
  • It is so creamy that it needs to be refrigerated before sharpening in summers.
  • Drawing a thin line isn't easy with this one!
Last Word:
Despite the cons..this is THE BEST eye pencil I have used till date!

Repurchase:
For sure!!!

My bestest MLBB,My favourite N*de Lippy: Faces Go Chic in Hazelnut: Review and Swatches

12.3.14 39 Comments
My eternal search for THAT perfect mlbb shade ended here. Where do I begin from..I can almost write an epic on this particular shade Hazelnut from the range Faces Go-Chic....

Brand Info: (from an online website)
‘FACES’ was founded in ‘Toronto, Canada’ in ‘1974’. It is a proven business with an established history of nearly 40 years within the international cosmetics market. FACES offers high-quality, extensive and affordable color cosmetics, skin care, anti-aging products and spa services. The diversity and depth of its color range appeals to all skin tones.

Company Claims: (from an online website)
Long stay, extra-shine lip colors.
Super stay, easy to apply Lipstick gives uniform coverage.
Repair your lips against climatic changes.
Get ready for rich, long lasting color in just one swipe.

Price Vs. Quantity: INR 199/- for 4.5gm
*on some websites the price mentioned is INR 249/- as well :(

Packaging:
Faces Go Chic Lipstick comes in a classy round shiny black casing, with a silver ring around which has the brand name on it. Its petite for the quantity of product it has inside. It click locks, won't open inside your makeup bag. The only problem is that round lippies,go on rolling when placed on a flat surface. I'm scared of breaking it,so try to place it vertically.

Shade: Hazelnut
Now here comes the major part..the reason why this baby is a constant repurchase..The shade Hazelnut is a beautiful Peachy Brown and trust me when I say I haven't come across anything that is as perfect an mlbb for me than this. Love Love Love the shade.Very subtle, everyday kinds that neither turns eyes nor makes you look dull.

My Take:
Well..basically I'm not a repurchase person to begin with. I love trying new things because you never know when you come across something better than what you already have. But this lippy is a exception for sure. I have bought another similar shades from other brands only to find a dupe of this with better staying power .... but,I have to end up repurchasing this only.

The texture is buttery soft, glides on easily. The pigmentation is really good considering its a nude shade, two swipes and full on colour. The staying power isn't something very awesome. It stays for 2-3hrs,but then don't forget that's true with any moisturizing nude lipstick.
So no complaints at all!!
and yes...it rocks as in ROCKS with a smokey eye..

My Likes:
  • My perfect n*de lipstick.
  • Smooth and Moisturizing.
  • Goes really well with heavy eye looks.
  • Well pigmented.
  • Good packaging for the price.
  • Very affordable.
  • Click locks.
  • The range has many shades to choose from.
  • Mild Coconut-Caramel fragrance.
My Dislikes:
None I can think of,given the texture, shade and price.

Last Word:
I LOVEEEE it!!!

Repurchase:
Till I get a budget dupe with better staying power.

How to Create a Lip Pot out of Leftover Lipsticks: DIY,Tute and Swatches

26.2.14 19 Comments
Hola Bellezas...
This is for all you beauties who wanted to know through Facebook and emails, how I did a custom-made lip pot out of leftover lippies..
Lets begin with the outcome first :

Makeup can get expensive. And being a BUDGET belleza,I have a hard time trashing anything... specially the lippies that were once my favourite. So,I generally used to fix the broken lippies rather than throwing them out..But this time I went a step further and used even the leftover lipstick in the tube, which had no future otherwise..
I've always known that when you hit the plastic base of the lipstick, there is always some product left over in there. Sometimes, if it was a color I loved, I would take a lip brush and use a little bit more. I was thinking it was just a wee bit that was left in there. But no,last night when I inserted a toothpick inside the tube,it was half way in there. There was so much lipstick in there..!!!!
Here's what I did:
Note: Since it is a requested post,I could not click pics step wise. The pics are combined to make the post comprehensive!

From a Leftover Lipstick to a Moisturizing Lip Pot:Here's How
Things you will need:

  • Broken or leftover lipsticks (Do check their expiry date before using)
  • Leftover lip balms/ Vaseline.
  • Microwave safe container/ Metal plate.
  • Microwave/ Candle.
  • Orange stick/ Toothpick.
  • An empty container with a lid/ Sample jar/ Old lip balm pot.
  • Tissues.
  • Rubbing Alcohol.

Instructions:

  • Take a microwave safe container and clean it using some rubbing alcohol..let it dry.
  • Scrape out the lipstick from its plastic base using a tooth pick/orange stick and collect in the container. I used my finished Avon Simply Pretty in Mango Mania and Maybelline Moisture Extreme in Pure Plum.

  • Now scrape out the lipbalms into the same container. Incase you don't have leftover lipbalms, you can use vaseline as well.
  • Adjust the quantity of lipstick and lip balm according to your needs. I wanted a hydrating lip product thus I added more lipbalm.
  • Microwave the container for a min. Keep a check on it every 20 seconds. It should only heat up enough to get mixed well and NOT boil.

  • Now take an empty jar which has a lid. It could be an empty single eye shadow container,a sample jar or an old lip balm pot. I used my empty Lotus lip balm pot. Clean it well using some rubbing alcohol in a tissue. Let it dry completely.
  • When completely dry transfer the liquid lipstick from the microwave to the Lip pot.
  • Keep it in deep freeze for 30 minutes.
  • And you have your very own custom made, super hydrating lip pot :)
The lip swatch is more true to colour than hand swatch!
The lasting power is around 2-3hrs. If you want more staying power, add less lip balm. Moisturization and longevity are inversely proportional in Lipstick Chemistry :P
Hope you liked it as much as I'm lovin' it :)
P.S. If you don't want to microwave, you can collect the scarped out material in a metal plate and melt it over a candle..Simple!!!

Lakme Perfecting Liquid Foundation in Marble: Review and Swatch

12.7.13 28 Comments
Foundations....aaah!!!!!
A never ending saga indeed. You get a shade lighter or get a shade darker  or at times the shade matches you well but the undertones don't..
But somehow I've never had a hard luck with foundations.Even the one that was gifted to me ended up being my HG Foundi. You can see the review here:
Coming to the Lakme Perfecting Liquid Foundation. This is my first Lakme foundation though I wonder WHY???
Company Claims:

Lakme Perfecting Liquid Foundation blends easily into your skin to create a soft glowing and feather like finish.
A water resistant, oil free formula with Vitamin E that provides superior coverage
It contains Vitamin E that soothes and moisturizes the skin.
The silicones help in easy application, spreading evenly for an even toned look.

Price Vs. Quantity: INR 105/ 27ml

Packaging:
Lakme Perfecting Liquid Foundation comes in rectangular flat glass bottle with a screw cap..no pump dispenser..no nozzle. Absolutely nothing to control the amount of the product :/
Lakme should work on the packaging!

Shades:

Lakme Perfecting Liquid Foundation comes in four shades:
  • Pearl
  • Marble (the one I have)
  • Shell
  • Coral

While Pearl is for Very Fair skinned with pink undertones,Marble has very strong yellow undertones and caters to Fair to Wheatish skin tones. Shell is for duskier beauties (though it didn't look like it would suit duskies) and the store didn't have Coral so I can't really say about it (SA said its least in demand).

My Take:

Though I must be the last one in the country to try the Lakme Foundations so late,I'm happy I did. I have all the good things to say about this little glass bottle (except it being the glass bottle :/ )
I wonder how I didn't give it try yet. Its medium coverage, light weight, oil free and gives apretty matte finish. Lets jump to the pros and cons.

My Likes:
1. The Shade (Natural Marble) matches me well :D
2. Decent coverage for everyday use (read medium).
3. Light on skin.
4. Pretty Oil-free (and I'm saying this in super humid July).
5. Doesn't make me sweat.
6. Did not break me out.
7. Fairly matte finish (better than maybelline bb stick)
8. Blends easily.
9. Easily available.
10. Cheapest branded foundi..I guess!
11. Non-bothersome smell.
12. Neither runny nor too thick.

My Dislikes:
1. All the Indian girls have to adjust with just 4 shades.
2.Boring,impractical packging..Lakme?Atleast a nozzle if not pump dispenser?
3. Glass bottle..breakable..not travel friendly!

Last Word:
Lakme improve the packaging and I'll give you 5/5 :D

Repurchase:
Yes!

Overall Rating: 4.5/5
