23.3.21 9 Comments
Onion Black Seed Hair Oil
Hair can be called one of the most defining quality of a person. Healthy, beautiful hair always leaves a lasting impression but having thick, shiny hair need a lot of TLC.
Your crowning glory needs more than just a celebrity advertised shampoo. 91Ayurveda has come to the rescue to solve multiple hair problems with their Red Onion Black Seed Hair Oil.

Ingredients:
Packaging:
It comes in a decent pump bottle making the application easy and mess free. The cap over it and shows that it is travel friendly too.

Price/ Quantity: INR 349/ 100ML

My Experience:
Hair oils were considered as century-old condition ers. They were known to repair weak and damage hair. Consistent application of hair oil is said to improve blood circulation and reduce hair fall.
91Ayurveda Red Onion Black Seed Hair Oil is a blend of 27 more essential oils and extracts. It has an amazing ingredients list that consists of of onion seed oil, black cumin seed oil, sunflower oil, Amla oil, sandalwood oil, almond oil, hibiscus oil etc.
What's even more interesting is that it contains no mineral oil, silicone or synthetic fragrance.
The thing I like most about this hair oil is that it is non sticky and non greasy. Also it does not smell of onions which makes it a Win-Win product.
I love it's cooling effect and the way it nourishes my hair. I highly recommend this Hair Oil blend.

Coffee Lip Balm
The coffee lip balm by 91 Ayurveda is full of good things to keep your dry and chapped lips hydrated and happy. It consists of cow ghee, coffee Oil,shea butter, almond oil, beeswax, coconut oil and other great ingredients. I have dry lips and it helps in keeping them moisturized.

Does Inveda Whitening and Depigmentation Cream actually fights out depigmentation? Review

23.6.15 9 Comments
They say good skin is the best makeup..And I for one never realized its importance when I was blessed with a spotless skin..It was only after the kids and the slight pigmentation on my face that I thought something needs to be done.
This thought introduced me to Inveda's Whitening and De Pigmentation Cream.

Company Claims,Price,Quantity and Directions to Apply

My Take:
First things first..it has a beaaauuutiful packaging. The chocolate and gold packaging looks too yummy. I smell Moroccan inspiration on the lid. Jar packaging though isn't a hit with everyone,I didn't mind much since its just me who is using it so hygine is takien care of.

The texture of the cream is buttery smooth and its very light weight. I love how it gets absorbed in my skin within seconds and actually hydrates it.
The next good thing is that it smells Aaaahhhmmmaaazing! I can really not make out the notes but a sniff of it does remind me of musk and jasmine. Its really spa like refreshing!

Now lets come to the real job that it was expected to perform and for that I had to hit the bottom...FAST Forward to now!
I was really blessed with an almost spotless skin but post my son's birth I stated noticing pigmentation patches on my skin. I was told they were due to the hormonal changes and that they would go off soon.. They didn't :(
This made me try a bunch of products from gels to creams to oils and the hunt is still on.. This hunt made me land here. Used it diligently only to be happy just with its moisturizing effect and nice fragrance. Infact I find it very good as a night cream rather than depigmentation cream. I woke up with a hydrated calm skin every morning as if there has been a rain shower on a dry earth.

Crux of the Matter:

Inveda Whitening and Depigmentation Cream is one of the most smooth, soft, refreshing and hydrating cream that has reached my skin but it didn't work to diminish my pigmentation.

Winter Skin Care Favorites

2.2.13 7 Comments
Now when winters are about to say buh-bye and the the products which proved to be saviors in the chilly winters are almost hitting bottoms..I guess I should say thanks to all stuff which helped me keeping me clean, moisturised and supple.
Lets take a look :
These are my random face and body care favorites in no particular order:

1. Jolen Whitening Face Wash Gel:
This was a recent invention by the brand and a discovery by me..Though using gel based cleansers isn't the best option for me in winters, but this one..it didn't break me out, cleansed all makeup thoroughly, didn't make me dry and was on a buy one get one offer.

2. Lotus Herbals Apriscrub:
An old friend of mine..I'm not a great fan scrubs with super-miniscule granules..they do nothing to me..This one's neither too abrasive nor too mild..just apt!

3. Himalaya Herbals Fairness Face Pack:
This works well on me..gives me brighter face and instant glow and is creamy too .So yes, this was a good winter friend :)

4. Avon Care Nourishing Cream:
I have been using the fairness cream from the same range as a regular day cream for the past 3months and I was pretty happy with it,so thought might give this one a try and I like the way it keeps my dry skin moisturised for quite a long time. The smell is little over-powering though!

5. Bvlgari Omnia Crystalline Body Lotion:
This one's a perfumed body lotion .I love love love its smell and how light weight it is on skin.

6. Patanjali Aloevera Gel:
There are very few products which have the capability of being an all-weather favorite..and this is the one! Yup it was ther in my summer favorites list too.But back then I had no idea that it will have a role to play in the chilly weather too. I used it often right after bath on my face,it kind of sealed the moisture and it did lighten a slight pigmentation on my right cheek..love it !

7. The Body Shop Body Butter in Strawberry:
The smell,of this body butter (the USP of all TBS body butters) is very yummy and edible..kinda very sugared strawberries like. The colour of the body butter is soft pink,as if natural strawberries have been whipped with the butter..smells yum, feels yummier!!! About to hit bottom shows how much I love it!

8. Homemade Body Oil:
Last but technically the first in usage and liking. This is my dry skin saviour actually. Used everyday post bath. Can't survive without this. Its is 2parts coconut oil,2parts olive oil and 1part almond oil mixed together 9and stored in an old clean and clear face wash bottle)
Absolute necessity!

These accompanied with a sunny afternnoon,a hot cup of cream coffee and a lovely book to read..mmm I'm already day dreaming!!!!

Himalaya Herbals Gentle Refreshing Toner: Review

21.1.13 1 Comments
Now what are Skin Toners basically for?
Believe me,I had no idea of this when I bought one. I just got it to fill in the blank between Cleansing and Moisturising of the much-hyped CTM Routine. But after a lil' research I gotta know that a toner's primary job is to restore your skin’s natural pH balance. Each time you wash your face you are upsetting the natural balance of acidity. This is where toner comes in !After cleansing, your skin's pH balance becomes too high and your skin has to work overtime to restore the balance. By using the right toner, your skin's pH level is immediately restored to its optimum range providing the perfect condition for your moisturizers.
"Often sold as a must-use step, toners are truly optional." -- Bobbi Brown
While many people feel toners truly cleanse their faces, removing any excess makeup residue, most beauty editors agree toners are not a "must-have" part of most people's skincare regimen. So who should use toner? People with extremely oily or acne-prone skin and those of us who want extra cleansing after wearing a lot of makeup should actually use a toner. Lets come to the review of Himalaya Herbals Gentle Refreshing Toner now:

Company Claims:
A special blend of herbs that controls excess oil secretion and makes your skin oil-free. It is enriched with Lemon and Jasmine which refresh and cool your skin, Sensitive Plant extracts that control excess oil secretion, and Sweet Marjoram that nourishes the skin, to keep it healthy and radiant.

Price/Quantity: INR70/- / 100ml

Ingredients:
Jasminum sambac (Jasmine, Jati)
Mimosa pudica (Sensitive Plant, Lajjalu)
Origanum majorana (Marjoram, Marubaka)
Citrus limon (Lemon, Nimbuka)

Inactives- Methylparaben IP, PropylparabenIP

Directions for Use:
After using Himalaya Herbals Deep Cleansing Milk, pour a few drops of Gentle Refreshing Toner on a cotton pad and wipe thoroughly over your face and neck.

Packaging:
Himalaya Herbals Gentle Refreshing Toner comes in a white translucent plastic bottle with a typical Himalaya bluish-green screw cap.It has another plastic lid to control product spillage (I've lost it). An okayish packaging..I like my toners and face freshners in spray bottle :/

My Take:

Now after reading about toners I came to know they basically serve three purposes:
a) Most importantly they maintain skin's pH balance.
b) They are used to minimize pores.
c) They are used to remove excess makeup.
Other benefits:
Removing dirt, impurities, dead skin cells and toxins
Removing excess sebum (oil) from the skin
Reducing excess oil secretion by creating an optimal pH level

So who should use toner? People with extremely oily or acne-prone skin and those of us who want extra cleansing after wearing a lot of makeup
Now I personally don't fall in the category of oily acne-prone skin nor do I face the issue of open pores,so I basically use this to remove extra traces of makeup and for that fresh feeling...considering I love hoe this one smells!

My Likes:
1. Smells really good (it has Lemon and Jasmine and I love both)
2. Very Affordable.
3. Its Alcohol free, did not dry me out.
4. Its mild enough not to break me out!
5. Gives a squeaky clean feel to the face post application.
6. Its refreshing!

My Dislikes:
1. I would have preferred it in a spray bottle.
2. Has parabens in its Inactive Ingredient list (remember its herbal)

Last Word:
Its is what it says Gentle and Refreshing!

Repurchase:
If you've read above, you would know I don't actually need it. But if I'll have to buy it again..I would buy this one only!

Patanjali Kesh Kanti Milk Protien Hair Cleanser : Review

23.10.12 2 Comments
My love for herbal products and more so,my so far so good experience with Patanjali products lead me to try yet another stuff  from them. When I went to the Patanjali store (ooops I mean Divya chikitsalaya) to buy their awesome murrabbas (u've got to try their gajar murrabba..sweet toothed homo sapiens gonna love it!) I was reminded of my empty bottle of Kesh Kanti Shampoo. On asking for it i was told it was out of stock, there I saw this white & pink bottle and I was like..yes I have read good reviews about it and I bought it!

What It Claims: Useful in dryness and roughness of hair. Prevents hair fall & improves hair shine.

Price/Quantity: INR 95/- / 200ml

Ingredients:

Direction for use: Apply 2-5 ml on wet hair, massage gently for 1 minute and then rinse with water.

Packaging:
Patanjali Kesh Kanti Milk Protien Hair Cleanser comes in a white plastic bottle with a hot pink flip-open cap.The image of few of its ingredients is depicted on the front of the bottle. Both the bottle and cap are quite sturdy and travel friendly. A no-nonsense practical packaging I guess!

My Take:
To begin with..I gave this hair cleanser a try only because I was totally in love with their original Kesh Kanti Hair Cleanser (reviewd here) and I wanted to know if this new addition to the Patanjali family has the potential enough to replace the golden-oldy :). Lets see how it fares:
Patanjali Kesh Kanti Milk Protien Hair Cleanser is a mild shampoo. It is milky-white in colour, what else colour could they have given it after calling it "milk-protein" :P .Anyways..the consistency is a little runny, unlike their original Kesh Kanti. It has a nice floral fragrance..nothing too fancy. The packaging as said earlier is fine for the price. It does make my broom-like hair soft, doesn't rip off the moisture from my hair. The only thing that is bugging me is..though I'm not amazing in Chemistry,I can still read a lot of chemicals in its base material list (in the pic above) and a lot less herbs than those in the original Kesh Kanti Shampoo. And this difference is pretty visible in the usage of the two as well. This one doesn't smell and look herbal :(

My Likes:
1. Its mild!
2. Cleanses hair and scalp well.
3. Pocket-friendly.
4. Sturdy packaging.
5. Doesn't make my hair dry.
6. SLES (sodium lauryl ether sulfate) free.
(It is an inexpensive foaming agent with emulsifying and cleansing properties.Studies have shown that SLES is a skin irritant first and foremost and has a host of other harmful effects on the body)
7. Easy to wash off.

 My Dislikes:
1. Isn't purely herbal (infact less herbal than the original one)
2. I liked the fragrance of the original one better.
3. Did nothing to my hairfall problem:(

Last Word: This is one Patanjali product that I'm not head over heals in love with. Its just an okayish mild shampoo that cleanses hair n scalp well!

Repurchase: No,I would go back to my love..The Original Kesh Kanti Hair Cleanser

Overall Rating: 3.8/5

*P.S. Do lemme know if you know anything good or bad in its ingredients list and if you have used it.. I'm all eyes and ears!

Lotus Herbals PURE RADIANCE Matte Glow Daily Foundation SPF20-Fresh Ivory 350: Review & Swatches

13.7.12 9 Comments
Hello Lovelies..
So monsoons have finally arrived in North India. All this while Iwas cribbing about the hot and humid weather here and here and  now its been just less than a week of enjoying the showers and I want to see sunlight that makes my clothes, towels, bedding crisp dry..I love rains but I hate the sogginess around :(
This reminds me of an Octave from the childhood:
"As a rule
Man is a fool
When its Hot
He wants it Cool
When its Cool
He wants it Hot
Always wanting
What is NOT!"
 From Poetry---------------------------------------------------------------------->to Vanity :)

I would be the last one to talk about Lotus Herbals Pure Radiance Daily Matte Foundation SPF 20. No I did not buy it any time recently. It was sitting pretty in my stash, not even sitting,it was busy coming in and out of it. So thought should talk about it ;)

Company Claims:
Lotus Herbals Pure Radiance Matte-Glow Daily Foundation is light reflection texture, oil-free, water based foundation. It has a feather light feel and is natural and safe for daily use. Gives a matte look by fully covering the imperfections in the skin. Add to this an SPF 20 for protection from the Sun.
Its light reflection property makes skin look clearer and gives it a shimmery glow. Contains botanical extracts, jojoba, soy lecithin and grape seeds.

Price: INR.175/- (available for less online)

Quantity: 25ml

Shade: Fresh Ivory

Packaging:

The packaging of Lotus Herbals Pure Radiance Daily Matte Foundation SPF 20 is good for the price. It has a nozzle dispenser, which is very practical in terms of controlling the amount of the product. Secondly, its sleek..I prefer flat tubes to the round ones.Nice to hold and easy to dump in the bag :)
But there are cons in the packaging as well:
One,I am one curious woman who wants to know how much product is left in her tube/bottle whatever.
Two, look for yourself:

Yes the classy cap of the not-so-classy tube came off :(

Shades Available:

  • Fresh Ivory 350 (the one I have)
  • Soft Beige 360
  • Caramel 370
My Experience:

Lotus Herbals Pure Radiance Daily Matte Foundation SPF 20 is a medium to full coverage foundation, considering I don't have any noticeable blemishes or scars it works well for me without using a concealer (as it is I'm not a big fan of full-on heavy coverage..until unless you are the Bride offcourse ;).It has a smooth texture and a very mild floral fragrance. One requires very little quantity of this for the whole face (infact if you go a little generous with this one,it might end up making you look cakey..So less-is-more definitely works here)this is also justifies the little quantity offered by the product. It gives me a fresh dewy finish. Its matte thus it looks natural if used in correct amounts. It stays on me for hours and hours,I might require a casual compact touch up after 2-3 hrs but foundation needs not to be disturbed :) But I do feel a bit difficulty in blending it properly..its just that you cannot afford to be careless with this.

My Likes:
1. The shade Fresh Ivory matches me quite well (if not perfectly)
2. Medium to full coverage.
3. Does not feel very heavy on skin.
4. Smell is mild and pleasant.
5. Little quantity is enough for the whole face.
6. Gives a dewy glow.
7. Very affordable.
8. Never broke me out.
9. Sleek packaging,travel friendly.
10. Has SPF :)

My Dislikes:
1. If only I could see how much product I'm still left with.
2. Consistency a bit too thick (I feel like mixing it with moisturiser or lacto calamine)
3. My cap broke :(
4. Limited shade selection.

Last Word: Lotus Herbals Pure Radiance Daily Matte Foundation SPF 20 is a good everyday foundation for a long lasting matte effect. Well-priced and has SPF.

Repurchase: Done with my first tube, already ordered second.

Overall Rating: 3.8/5

Patanjali Kesh Kanti Hair Cleanser : Review

30.5.12 25 Comments
Remember that old long haired princess fairy tale, where the Prince used to say :
Rapunzle Rapunzle  ,let down your hair,
So that I may climb The Golden Stair...

Hearing this Rapunzle used to let her hair down from the window and help the Prince climb up to him..Well that being the fairy tale......
In my case,My Prince would not have been able to climb a single stair holding onto my hair lol ...thanks to the multitude problems of hairfall,dry-dull-damaged hair :(

I have this thing in me that the word Herbal rings a bell somewhere deep inside me.So,a year back when I was introduced to Patanjali products by my sister-in-law,this Kesh Kanti Hair Cleanser/Shampoo was the first thing I grabbed from them and I'm glad I did :)

What It Claims:(Was originally in Hindi..has been translated)
Helpful in preventing hairfall and dryness, makes hair healthy, thick and beautiful.

Quantity: 200ml

Ingredients:

Price: INR 65/- (that's unbelievable!)

Packaging:

Patanjali Kesh Kanti Hair Cleanser comes in a yellow plastic bottle with an orange flip-open cap.The image of few of its ingredients is depicted on the front of the bottle. Both the bottle and cap are quite sturdy and travel friendly.Nothing else to brag about!!!!

My Take: In todays lifestyle,we rely more on the cosmetics that on the herbal/homemade stuff for our personal and care.I know its a sin for skin and hair but lack of time and availablity of markets flooded with products are to be blamed for this change in attitude of our generation.Following the treands i too have done a number of tortures to my hair.To begin with,I was never a born Rapunzel.I always had a thick, unruly, curly mane but the problem arrived when the only positivity, the thickness was getting affected..Yup,suffering a number of experiments like hair colouring, streaking, blow drying, flat ironing, curling using tongs, hair sprays,serums....you name it,I've used it all on me :(
Result-----> hairfall,dry and damaged hair!Period.

Patanjali Kesh Kanti Hair Cleanser was the first product I bought from Patanjali that I started using and I must say it has rescued me well from the aforesaid monsters ;) It has considerably reduced my hairfall.I like its smell..its uuuuhhh mmm orangy,citrusy..all in all refreshing. The consistency is just right for a hair cleanser..neither too thick nor runny. It cleanses the scalp and hair well without leaving residues, thus can be easily rinsed off. The best part is that in case you don't have super dry and unruly hair, you won't even require a conditioner post shampooing..yup it makes hair that smooth and tangle-free and to top it all its herbal :)

My Likes:
1.Super affordable :)
2.Cleanses well.
3.Refreshing Orangy Smell.
4.Has wonderful herbs in its ingredients list.
5.Easy to wash off.
6.Controls hairfall (it did mine atleast!)
7.Makes hair smooth.
8.Unbreakable travel friendly packaging.

My Dislikes: Apart from the boring Patanjali packaging I don't see any con,but given the price I don't mind that one bit.

Last Word: This is one product from Patanjali that provoked me to try even more stuff from them.It does the job well and is super cheap.I love It!

Repurchase: My fourth bottle already and considering its a regularly used product..Yes I will surely repurchase!

Overall Rating: 4.8/5
