Focallure Limited Edition Twilight Eyeshadow Palette: Review, Swatches, Price and FOTD

10.4.19 6 Comments

After getting my hands on the Beauty Glazed Mars Palette which was last reviewed on my blog, I was excited to try more such palettes. So I did a bit of research on the gram and google offcourse and landed on this Focallure Twilight Palette which is a limited edition. This is my first purchase from this brand although I had heard about it earlier.

Price : INR 574/- (from Ali Express)
The same is being sold anywhere from 1000 - 1600 by instagram sellers!

Ingredient List:

Packaging:

The packaging is sturdy with a huge mirror. It houses 18 square pans of matte and foil eyeshadows. It has a magnetic closure and is very travel friendly.

Shades/Texture/Pigmentation:

  • Naked- Cool-toned off white/ matte/ not pigmented
  • Camel- Warm-toned beige/ matte/ not pigmented
  • Tangerine- Terracotta/ matte/ pigmentation is okay
  • Amber- Deep terracotta with brown undertones/ matte/ well-pigmented
  • Needfire- Warm toned copper/ foil finish/ well pigmented
  • Tiramisu- Warm-toned deep brown / matte/ well pigmentation
  • The Palace- BEAUTIFUL Gold with lemon undertones/ foil finish/ well pigmentation
  • Sun Ray- Bronze/ foil finish/ good pigmentation

  • Sunrise- Trues warm-toned copper shade/ foil finish/ bomb pigmentation
  • Party- Brown with gold specks/ foil finish/ good pigmentation
  • Ruby- Coralish Red/ satin finish/ good pigmentation
  • Rose Vale- Berry-toned rose/ matte/ okay pigmentation
  • Chili- Dark grey almost leaning to black/ matte/ bad pigmentation
Looks Created Using Focallure Twilight Palette
Rather than one, I've tried to create three different looks from this palette to give a better idea to you lovelies. While one is an everyday warm toned matte eyelook, the other two are shimmery party eyelooks.
Hope you all will like them!

 My Take
  • The palette shows ingredient list.
  • It is cruelty free.
  • The foil shadows are nicely pigmented.
  • Few matte shades are packed with pigments too.
  • Matte shadows have fall-out issues.
  • Periwinkle, one of the most beautiful and unique eyeshadow of this palette just refuses to pack o the lid easily.
  • The two dark shades (Magic and Chili) are poorly pigmented. These kind of shadows are importatnt in any palette for intensifying an eyelook or for the smokey eye. But they are dud here.
  • Although the palette has 18 eyeshadows, it majorly lacks a good highlighting shade for the brow bone and the inner corners.
Over All Thoughts
Focallure Twilight 18 eyeshadow palette was another ali express makeup find after the Beauty Glazed Mars palette. Honestly speaking I was a little skeptical about Ali express beauty products and how would they fair on my skin. But having seen them so much on the instagram and reading reviews of them nationally and internationally, I gathered courage to dive in. So far both the palettes have faired well, they have provided ingredient list
Given the price of the palette and the fabulous packaging, one can really not complain much. It has a beautiful amalgamation of matte, satin and foil shadows. The palette has it's own hits and misses. While few eyeshadows are bomb and instant love, the one's required to smoke out are pretty dud.
All in all, this is a good palette for beginners and for foil shadow enthusiasts. You might need a good matte black and a highlighting eyeshadow separately to create or complete your looks.

Beauty Glazed Mars Palette - A Dupe of Huda Beauty Ruby Obsessions Palette: Review Price Swatches EOTD

3.4.19 5 Comments
Hey My Loves..
Here's hoping you all are doing absolutely fine. I'm really excited about today's review. Few years back eyeshadows were overshadowed by lipsticks and other colour cosmetics and those who liked to do eye-makeup restricted themselves from using bold/wild colours. Earthy tones were then everyone's best friend. But times certainly have changed. While we still love subtle tones ans smokey eyes, we aren't afraid of turning heads with bright colours. There are truckloads of bright and colourful palettes available in the market today from high end to the drugstore ones, one of my favourite being the Juvias Place Masquerade Palette
Off late the instagram is flooded with so many brands that are affordable, come in good packaging, provide their ingredient list and have great quality too.
While browsing through Youtube, I chanced upon Tammi Clarke's (owwhhhh I love her) video in which she compared HUDA beauty Ruby Obsessions Palette to a dirt cheap Beauty Glazed Mars Palette and man!!! I was hooked to this little beauty!
I searched high and low on the internet and below are my findings:

Price:
I generally just write the price of the product and leave it at that but this palette needs special mention. While it is being sold anywhere between 850/- 1000/ in the name of a Huda Beauty dupe. I purchased it for $3.8 (270/- approx) with free shipping from AliExpress.

Ingredients:

Packaging:
The packaging of the palette very chic. I like the size of the palette. It fits into my travel makeup case easily. Its a perfect square with 9 matte and shimmery eyeshadows. The palette lid has magnetic closure. It has all the details and ingredient list printed at the back of it. It would have been convenient if it housed a mirror too but at this price...Absolutely No Complaints!!

Shades and Finish:

Since Beauty Glazed Mars Palette is a dupe of Huda Beauty Ruby Obsessions, the palette basically revolves around the shades of red. Let's dig into it one by one:
  • 1. Flesh - matte/ medium pigmentation
  • 2. Berry - berry with red undertones and has pink and gold flecks/ well-pigmented
  • 3. Bronze - foil finish/ bomb pigmentation
  • 4. Deep Burgundy - matte/well pigmented
  • 5. Berry - foil finish/bomb pigmented
  • 6. Deep Khakhi - khakhi with brown undertones/satin to foil finish/superb pigmentation
  • 7. Deep Coral - matte/well pigmented
  • 8. Peach - matte/well pigmented
  • 9. Cherry Red - matte/okayish pigmented

My Take in a Jiffy!
  • Super affordable.
  • No fallout.
  • No patchiness
  • No staining.
  • Superb pigmentation.
  • Mix of matte and shimmer shades.
  • Has options for transition shade, lid and smokey options.
  • Vegan
  • Cruelty free.
  • Cute size.
  • Sturdy packaging.

The brand has come out with 5 palettes in this series. Each palette denotes a planet and revolves around a particular colour. As of now I'm in love with this palette and I do plan to buy more of these ;)

Juvias Place Masquerade Palette: Review, Swatches, FOTD

6.2.19 0 Comments
Juvias Place has made a special place for itself in the beauty world of colour cosmetics. All it's products including eyeshadows, highlighters, blushes and lip products are quite popular among the beauty enthusiasts. but the one product that the brand is actually raved so much about is it's eyeshadows. The brand is owned by a beautiful lady of colour and that could be a reason for it selection of fearless and bright shades. The palette that I'm going to talk about today is The Masquerade Palette.

Price: $25

Packaging:
Just like shade selection, the outer packaging of this palette is bright and beautiful. The 16 pans of gorgeous eyeshadows are housed in a shocking pink outer case and a bright yellow inner one. The packaging is quite sturdy but I do miss a mirror considering it is a huge palette and could have incorporated a decent size mirror easily. The eyeshadow pan size is pretty huge and hitting pan is nowhere in the scene.

Eye shadows
The Masquerade boasts of an amazing amalgamation of warm and cool toned eyeshadows. It has everything from bright greens, blues, purples and pinks to muted and deep warm neutral tones. Having said all the nice things, there's one shade that i absolutely miss in this paltte and that is a matte black eyeshadow.
Let's get down to the shades breakup:
  •  CHI- Royal Blue / Satin finish / Very pigmented
  •  MALI- Sea Green / Satin finish / Very pigmented
  •  DALIA- Deep Turquoise / Satin finish / Bomb pigmentation
  •  ZOLA- Mid tone turquoise with green undertones/ Satin finish / Bomb pigmentation
  •  MAKEDA- Bright purple / Satin finish / Very pigmented
  •  ZOBO- Deep Magenta / Matte finish / Very pigmented
  •  CALABAR- Cranberry with red undertones / Satin to foil finish / Super pigmented
  •  BORI- Hot pink with fine gold flecks / Matte / Very pigmented
  •  GIZA- Shimmery Cream, great for highlight / pressed pigment kinda bomb finish
  •  BURKINA- Mid tone muddy brown / Matte / Less pigmented
  •  CAIRO- Burnt orange with gold flecks / Matte / Very pigmented
  •  ADA- Deep Terracotta / Matte / Decent pigmentation
  •  DAHIA- Warm Champagne / Satin -foil finish / Very pigmented and is a beautiful highlighter
  •  ZULU- Mid tone warm brown / Matte / Okayish pigmentation
  •  CASABLANCA- Coppery gold / Foil finish / Bomb pigmentation
  •  FULANI- Deep brown / Matte / Very pigmented
My Take:
Juvias Masquerade Palette is my all time favourite eyeshadow palette. It is very reasonably priced for the quality and quantity that it offers and can come under the umbrella of drugstore eye shadows.

I personally love the versatility of the palette. It can easily be divided in to a warm neutral palette and a cool-toned colourful one. While the top two rows have bright  and bold colours which give so much opportunity to let the creative juices flow and come out with innovative eye looks, the bottom two rows have beautiful warm toned shades to create everyday eye looks without much schbang.
The two highlighters are good enough to give that blinding glow and I love reaching out for them not just for the brow bone but also as a general face highlighter.

The texture of the eyeshadows is buttery soft. In the pigmentation department they are unbeatable.

Now coming to the cons of the palette, I really miss a mirror in it. Given its size, it could have easily housed a mirror and that would have made it so travel friendly.
Secondly, it is totally lacking a matte black eyeshadow which is so much needed to intensify the look. I have to reach out to another palette just to smoke out my outer corners.
Thirdly, the shade Bori which is a bright hot pink stains a bit but somehow I've noticed that with all my pink eyeshadows.
Lastly and unfortunately, it's not available in India. You can buy directly from its website or through Instagram sellers ( who obviously charge much extra than its actual price..but...)
So yeah keep your eyes open when some friend/ relative/ or you yourself visit abroad next time :P

Final Word:
Get it if you can...it all you need!!
LOVE it!

Sleek i-Divine Palette in ALL NIGHT LONG : Review and Swatches

20.9.18 0 Comments

To begin with, this mini palette was a freebie with the other purchases from Sleek and freebies are pure Love ❤️.

If  I had to choose a mini version of any sleek palette, it probably would have been this..ALL NIGHT LONG palette only.
Read on to know why..
The palm - sized palette houses 12 tiny eyeshadow pans. Let's jump to the swatches first:-

  • Belini- silvery-milky pink; shimmery; less pigmented
  • Negroni- deep muddy brown; matte; well pigmented
  • Martini- looks champagne in the pan but comes out as warm-toned silver; shimmery; decently pigmented
  • Prosecco- gold; shimmer, almost foil finish; well pigmented
  • Kir Royale- silver with peach undertones; satin; poor pigmentation
  • Mimosa- Warm brown with terracotta undertones; somehwre between satin and shimmer finish; decent pigmentation
  • Champagne- pale gold; shimmer; pigmentation oisn't impressive
  • Spritz- gun-metal with brown undertones; shimmery; very well pigmented
  • Mai Tai- almost skin tone, this is most disappointing in terms of colour and pigmentation; matte; doen't show up at all
  • Cosmopolitan- A shade deeper than Belini and more pigmented; mauvy rosegold; beautiful shade; satin/shimmer; well pigmented
  • Daiquiri- beautiful but tricky shade;warm medium toned copper-brown; would look amazing on our skintone; well pigmented
  • Manhattan- The BOMB..one of the most beautiful shades I've ever come across; orangey copper; foil finish; fiery pigmentation..one swipe and done!LOVE
I did not experience any fall out from this palette. Pigmentation of the shadow varies but there's no dud pan other than Mai Tai. I love the fact this has all day to night shades and being in the neutral zone, the shades would go on equally well on any attire or look.
It is basically a shimmery palette and would be great for travels.
I love its combination of warm tones and cool tones and that it compliments our Indian skins superbly well.

Makeup Revolution Eat Sleep Makeup Repeat Pro Looks Palette : Review, Price, Swatches and EOTD

27.5.17 4 Comments

Halllllllo Bellezas....!!!
This is my second Makeup Revolution eyeshadow palette, the first being the New-Trals Vs. Neutrals is an absolute favourite. On a normal day, I'm a neutral eyeshadow kinda person and THIS is definitely the brightest and most colourful palette in my stash. Liking an eyeshadow palette is really a task for me because I want it to be as versatile as possible (Gimme a rainbow for a palette :D) I can seriously never pay big bucks for ten similar looking eyeshadows of apparently similar finishes. If you too like me prefer a palette that has a multitude of shades and finishes..come on board 'coz we've got you covered!

Price: 6 GBP
(Interestingly, each online website be it flipkart, nykaa, jabong etc.is showing a different MRP for this palette although its discounted everywhere, so incase you are interested in owning it take a look around!)

There isn't anything particularly revolutionary about the packaging of the EAT SLEEP MAKEUP REPEAT palette, nor do they need one. Makeup Revolution palettes are neat and practical with a huge mirror. The shade names are printed on a transparent plastic sheet placed above the shadows and not engraved on the palette like the most high end ones and if you loose the label sheet, you loose the names as well..I know Duh! The sponge applicator provided is probably of no use. Since the name suggests (3Looks in 1 Palette), the palette is divided into 3blocks of 5 eyeshadows each (out of which, one is a highlighter) thus 15 eyeshadows.

The palette houses 15 shades in three different categories:
  • Reds/Pinks
  • Green/Yellow
  • Blue/Purple
  • Each category has a highlighter.

Reds/Pinks
  • Rave On- White highlighter, matte, chalky, poor pigmentation!...DUD!!
  • Say It Now- Coral Red with silver shimmers, satin finish, very pigmented.
  • Right Now- Hot Pink(neon), matte, poor pigmentation.
  • Right Here- Purple with magenta undertones, duo-chrome,shimmery,highly pigmented...LOVE!!!
  • Final Track- Rani Pink (cool toned fuschia),slightly duo-chrome,pigmentation is neither great nor bad.
Greens/Yellows
  • Rave Off-  Silver highlighter,shimmery,pigmented.
  • Needle On- Moss Green,foiled kinda finish,pigmented...LOVE!!!
  • Hot Track- Lime Green (neon),matte, very poor pigmentation (had to dig in finger to show the colour)..DUD!!!
  • Re-mix- Deep Forest Green,shimmery,highly pigmented...LOVE!!!
  • Eat Everything- Olive Green/Heena Green, satin finish, pigmented.
Blues/Purples
  • Repeat Again- Metallic Silver,super shimmery,foil finish,highly pigmented,STAR PERFORMER!!
  • Sleep All Day- Cobalt Blue, matte, pigmented.
  • Rave All Night- Denim Blue with minuscule silver shimmers, cool toned, satin finish, well pigmented.
  •  Magician- Deep Mauve, matte, poorly pigmented...DUD!!!
  • Ibiza Heaven- Violet,satin finish,pigmented.
And Here's my attempt to create three different looks with this :)

Overall, the mattes and neons failed badly while rest of the 12 shades are amazing value for money.
This isn't the palette for the weak-hearted for sure and this is
neither the one that I would reach out for often..definitely a neutrals girl!! But this is the palette that every eye makeup enthusiast should stash away for those pop-of-colour moods and versatile looks!!
Over All Rating: 3.5/5

Makeup Revolution Professional Eyeshadow Palette NEW-TRALS vs NEUTRALS : Review,Price,Swatches and FOTD

13.6.16 10 Comments
Hey eye-makeup enthusiasts..and the ones who want to try their hands on it..!!! Today's review is gonna excite you much :D
I haven't reviewed eyeshadow palettes much on the blog. You can read my last review of a palette here.
There's loads to tell..so heading on straight to the palette..!!

Price: INR 1350/- (available here

Makeup Revolution London is a UK drugstore brand and has received a lot of love from budget makeup lovers.Their eye and face palettes, known to be dupes of higher end makeup palettes like Urban Decay Naked series and Lorac Pro are a huge hit!!
I wanted to own one from the brand and after having a look at the collection I zeroed in on this beauty..
NEW-TRALS vs NEUTRALS !
The packaging is practical n neat. I like the matte black case. The mirror provided is big enough to assist a full face makeup. Along with it comes a double-ended (fluffy/flat) brush which isn't actually bad, specially the fluffy/blending side!
It houses 16 eyeshadows of different finishes: matte, satin, shimmer and foil!

The 16 shadows are divided into two rows:
Top Row: Has everything from Spring to Autumn!
Bottom Row: Has more neutral and shimmery shades!
The good thing is that all the shades have names..
The bad thing...they are not printed on the case, rather on a plastic sheet :/

Top Row:
  • BIAS - Champagne/satin finish (used as a highlighter in the pic below)
  • NEUTRAL - Taupe/matte finish
  • PERSONAL - Rosegold/shimmery (BEAUTIFUL..LOVE it)
  • VOGUE - Coral/satin finish
  • TREND - Warm Terracotta/matte finish
  • NEW-TRAL - Cranberry/satin finish (lovely sheen)
  • TONE - Burgundy/matte finish
  • CUSTOM -  Deep Brown/matte
 Bottom Row:
  • COOL - Off-white/matte (chalky,less pigmented)
  • STYLE - Soft pink/shimmery/foil-like finish (beautiful date-night kinda pink)
  • PARTIAL - Mauvy pink/shimmery/foil-like finish
  • MODE - Warm rusty gold/shimmery/foil-like finish
  • ADAPT - Deeper Taupe/matte finish
  • BUFF - Gunmetal with pink undertones/satin-pearly finish
  • SUIT- Deep grey/matte finish
  • STRONG - Duo-chrome/gliterry black with loads of pink shimmers (LOVE!)
And here's my little tryst with it!

I'm in total love with this palette,be it the quality, the packaging or the shade selection. With this one can create different looks from spring to autumn and glam to neutral :)

Wet N Wild Eye Color Icon Pallete in The Naked Truth: Review,Swatches,Price,EOTD

13.1.16 4 Comments
Heyaaaa..
To begin with my daughter is 19 months old now..and that's exactly where all my time and energy goes. She keeps me on my toes and yet I haven't lost an ounce of weight ;) :P

Rants aside, today I'm here with something I thought would replace the Maybelline Chai Latte Quad from my makeup bag..the shades and finishes appeared similar and I was happy that Chai Latte is gonna have a cousin...But....
Read On.... ;)
Brand Claims:

Ingredients:

Price: $3.99

Packaging:

The Naked Truth pallete comes in a 5-pan pallete range of Wet n Wild eyeshadows. The setting is fine for the price and has a see-through plastic lid. It comes with a brush and sponge applicator (which are of no use off course).

Shades:
Image has been taken from google and I don't claim ownership
Color icon palletes were launched in 5 different variants and The Naked Truth was their nude pallete.

Base: Warm ivory/shade in matte finish.
Browbone: Cool-toned off white with silver shimmers.
Definer: Dark choco brown in matte finish.
Eyelid: Cool-toned taupey gunmetal in satin finish.
Crease: Warm-toned coppery brown with gold shimmers.

My Take:
Let me confess,I was super excited to get this 5-pan pallete. I thought it would straight away slide in to the makeup bag..but after using it..lemme say I'm not wowed by it.
The colour selection is absolutely amazing and a boon for nude eyeshadow lovers. And the pallete provides you eyeshadows with different finishes all at once, which is great.
But..But..But.....lets go one by one:

Base is chalky and powdery.
Eyelid and Definer have major fallout issues.
Crease is really beautiful shade but its very very dry.
Browbone shade is nice and can be used as a highlighter at the cheek bones and inner corners of the eye.
All in all the eyeshadows have fallout issues and primer would be must for them to show up and stick to the lids.
Also I noticed the different shades merged into one another giving a messy look.

Likes:
  • Affordable
  • Beautiful colour selection
  • You get different finishes in the same compact pallete
  • No problem with the packaging given the price
Dislikes:

  • Eyelid has fallout issues
  • Crease is way too dry
  • Base is too chalky
  • Primer is a MUST
  • Brush/Applicator is useless
  • Eyeshadows merge to form a single colour on lid

Last Word: I was too optimistic seeing the earthy tones, but I'm not charmed by it.

Rating: 2.5/5
