Priyanka Chopra INSPIRED makeup look for Fall/Autum

9.12.16 6 Comments
As a makeup enthusiast and a YouTube addict, my favourite category is either swatch videos or recreating celebrity makeup looks. Oh! hoe I love seeing the transformation of one person into another just by the power of makeup. I really find them highly creative rather than the random haul videos. If I am to name a few of my favourite inspired look videos (which are tons off course) I would pick JLo's inpired makeup tutorial by Huda , Kylie Jenner inspired makeup by Roxette Arisa , Penelope Cruz inspired makeup by Makeup By Ani among the the huge talented lots.
Now that we are desi , we wouldn't be able to do justice with an international look given our skin tone, eye colour and hair colour. The reason being just mentioned I earlier decided to do an Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's Cannes inspired makeup look earlier which received so much love from you guys and now I came across this image of our very own Priyanka Chopra when she attended the Marrakech International Film Festival and her net saree and lace blouse became the talk of the town! I've always liked Priyanka's style of dressing even though I don't find her experimenting with her makeup much. She always sticks to her matte makeup base and matte lips , generally playing around earthy tones and nudes. But at this paticular event she turned up in smokey eyes , pink lips and very pronounced pink blusher.
Here's my attempt at recreating it:

And Here's how to achieve it:
Face
For the face, I started with Patanjali Aloevera gel as a primer/pre base. I wanted a clean and covered base thus I used Maybelline Matte and Poreless foundation for it. For my NC30ish skin tone I mixed the shades Sun Beige(310) and Natural Buff(230) to get the correct match. I generally use Real Technique Sponge to apply my foundations and did the same for this look as well. For setting the makeup I used Lotus Herbals Pure Radiance Natural compact in Caramel. Since it wasn't a chiseled out look and not harsh contour or highlight was obvious, I used a very light hand at giving dimension to the face using Kat Von d Shade Light palette. Blush was majorly visible on Priyanka so I used Wet n Wild Pearlescent Pink with a rather heavy hand than I usually do. The blusher itself has shimmers so I skipped using a highlighter altogether.
And this is how it came out!

 Eyes
Priyanka was seen sporting a deep smokey eye for the event and to achieve a similar look I used Bys Eyeshadow mousse as the eye base and then used the shades Custom and Strong from my New Trals Vs Neutrals Palette by Makeup Revolution
For the eyeliner , Maybelline gel liner was put to use and I skipped the falsies and just used Oriflame Giordani Glod masacara to open up the eyes and finish the look.
For the eye brows I used a matte dark brown eyeshadow to fill and shape and brushed it out to avoid too harsh brows.
Lips
Priyanka Chopra is a brand ambassador for matte lips. Even when the whole bollywood was wearing creamy , satiny , glossy lips, Priyanka stuck to her matte nudes...much much before the matte lip trend. In the images above too she is seen wearing deep fuchsia with purple undertones. Lakme Absolute Lip Pout in Magenta Magic was quite close to her shade but it required a slight dash of purple for which I mixed a little bit of Huda Beauty Material Girl.
That's pretty much all that was done to achieve the Priyanka Chopra look!!!

Hope you guys like it :D

Eyebrow Tutorial : How To Get Beautiful Thick Brows In 6 Easy Steps !!

12.9.16 4 Comments
You Guessed it right..Its the Eyebrow Tutorial today!!
And before I start, I would like to thank all of you for the love and support you have shown. All of you who have appreciated my work and came up to clear your thoughts or request a tutorial whether as direct messages on instagram or texts on facebook and even emails.. take this as a personal thank note !!
I have always felt that out of all our facial features, beauty passions, cosmetic buys and makeup discussions EYEBROWS have been the most underrated feature of our face. When we think of dressing up, makeup base (foundation), lip products and eyeshadows are our major concern and we quite at times overlook the fact that eyebrows are a very essential facial feature that needs due recognition. Eyebrows provide a frame to the face and if done properly ,they lift up your whole look. In the absence of neatly and prominently done eyebrows the face looks incomplete even if rest of the makeup is on point.
And you guys..thick, groomed brows were the latest trend that came across even in the recent New York Fashion Week!!
So beauties...DON'T ignore thy brows!!
Without further delay..lets get started!!

Things You'll Need (in order of usage) :
  • Tweezers
  • Eyebrow groomer brush (even a toothbrush works)
  • Small angled brush
  • Brow powder/Matte Brown Eyeshadow/ Matte Brown Gel Liner
  • Concealer
  • Flat Concealer Brush
  • Q-tip
  • Brow Gel/Hair Spray with a Spoolie
Method:

1. Shaping : First of all you need a clean slate to work on. Any amount of precision would not look beautiful if tiny little hair are sticking out of the brow line. So pick up your tweezers and pluck all the extra hair to get a clean brow area. Also generally when we do things ourselves,we tend to ignore the area above our brows and concentrate mainly on the brow bone zone. Don't do that, take out the extras from below and above your brow.

2. Brushing/Grooming : Now that you have cleaned your brows of any extra hair, brush them with an eyebrow groomer to make them smooth and to expose the areas that need to be filled in the next step. If you have a well-practiced hand then you can even cut any hair that's sticking out of the brows. But leave this step if you don't have a steady hand. In case you don't have an eyebrow groomer brush, you can use a baby brush which serves the purpose just right.

3. Filling : Third step is the main step...Filling your brows. Now there's a plethora of eyebrow filling products from the good old eyebrow pencils to brow powders and wax to even brow mousse with a mascara like (spoolie) wand. Traditionally, we rely on eyebrow pencils to fill our brows but i find them looking too harsh on me. Truly speaking you can use ANY MATTE DARK BROWN EYESHADOW OR BRONZER for a natural looking fuller eyebrows.
I personally alternate between a slightly dry dark brown gel eyeliner, The Balm Bahama Mama bronzer or even the dark brown eyeshadow from the Maybelline Chai Latte Quad.
With an angled brush draw a defined line below and above your brow if you have sparse eyebrows (in case you already have thick brows, just draw a line along the brow line). While filling your brows, apply very light strokes on the inner and outer end because it looks really unnatural if you do the beginning and end heavily. You can apply with a little heavy hand on the arch of the brow though.

4. Clean Up The Mess: This is easy..take a q-tip and clean up any product that has come out of the brows (below and above).

5.  Highlighting: This is an underrated yet very important step. Once you are done with shaping and filling your brows, take a concealer that is one or two shades lighter to your skin tone and highlight just below and above your brow. Blend it well (you can totally use your fingers instead of the concealer brush). This will pop out your brows beautifully and give a nice frame to the face.

 6. Apply Gel and Let It Set: Now that your eyebrow is groomed, filled and highlighted, apply some gel on them and brush with a groomer or spoolie (or again..a baby brush) so that they stay in their place and don't budge. There are various options in the market for brow gels, however I use Patanjali Aloevera Gel and it does its job. A spoolie sprayed with a hair spray is a popular budget hack to replace an expensive brow gel.
TaaaDaaaaa...You're done!!!
Here's the complete look:

I tried incorporating everything that I personally do for my brows though there are much extensive ways of doing it.
Hope you guys liked it :)

My Top 10 Most Used Makeup Products Of 2014

11.2.15 6 Comments
I know.. I know.. Technically this should have been a December last week or January first week post, but don't forget I'm a mom of a super-desperate-to-walk baby.. So yeah! On my toes!!

I wanted to do a 5 most used beauty products post, but the rest five gave me a cold stare sitting in the stash..rather jumping out of the stash! So presenting the 10 most used (read loved) beauty products of 2014:
(In no particular order)

1. Patanjali Aloevera gel
Multipurpose is it's middle name. Works well as a primer, acne soother, face pack base, depigmentation gel, night treatment, hair pack base. On and on and on....

2. Maybelline dream mouse liquid foundation in creamy natural
Love it. Easy to apply, easy to blend, gives airbrush kinda finish if applied with a stippling brush. No cakeyness no dry patches. C'mon it's just a foundation not your husband, you can't expect more!!!
My go to contour powder. Without you I look like a pumpkin ;)

4. Oriflame giordani gold mascara
The perfect mascara to give those falsies kinda effect. Best I've evaaa come across!

5. Colorbar Peachy Rose Blush
Almost hitting pan. It's peachy pink with a nice sheen. Not matte not shimmery. Apt for every day wear!

6. Faces long wear eyeliner pencils in navy blue and forest green
Epic!!! I'm sold to these!
Pretty peachy nude.. Wear it during the day or pair it up with smoky eyes at night for that sizzling effect!
Efforts of creative eye looks would have gone down the drain if not for this baby!
All those creative eye looks would have gone wasted without this baby..

9. Maybelline Chai latte quad
Total love! Gimme any dress, any occasion, day or night and I can make this work.
Useful tip- The darkest shade in the quad doubles up wonderfully as a brow powder!

10. Makeup brushes
Well, technically these are not products but the rest of the products would be nothing in the absence of makeup tools.
Stippling brush, angled blush/contouring brush, angled eye-shadow brush and eye brow groomer...you guys are my oxygen!

That's it for today beauties....

Winter Skin Care Favorites

2.2.13 7 Comments
Now when winters are about to say buh-bye and the the products which proved to be saviors in the chilly winters are almost hitting bottoms..I guess I should say thanks to all stuff which helped me keeping me clean, moisturised and supple.
Lets take a look :
These are my random face and body care favorites in no particular order:

1. Jolen Whitening Face Wash Gel:
This was a recent invention by the brand and a discovery by me..Though using gel based cleansers isn't the best option for me in winters, but this one..it didn't break me out, cleansed all makeup thoroughly, didn't make me dry and was on a buy one get one offer.

2. Lotus Herbals Apriscrub:
An old friend of mine..I'm not a great fan scrubs with super-miniscule granules..they do nothing to me..This one's neither too abrasive nor too mild..just apt!

3. Himalaya Herbals Fairness Face Pack:
This works well on me..gives me brighter face and instant glow and is creamy too .So yes, this was a good winter friend :)

4. Avon Care Nourishing Cream:
I have been using the fairness cream from the same range as a regular day cream for the past 3months and I was pretty happy with it,so thought might give this one a try and I like the way it keeps my dry skin moisturised for quite a long time. The smell is little over-powering though!

5. Bvlgari Omnia Crystalline Body Lotion:
This one's a perfumed body lotion .I love love love its smell and how light weight it is on skin.

6. Patanjali Aloevera Gel:
There are very few products which have the capability of being an all-weather favorite..and this is the one! Yup it was ther in my summer favorites list too.But back then I had no idea that it will have a role to play in the chilly weather too. I used it often right after bath on my face,it kind of sealed the moisture and it did lighten a slight pigmentation on my right cheek..love it !

7. The Body Shop Body Butter in Strawberry:
The smell,of this body butter (the USP of all TBS body butters) is very yummy and edible..kinda very sugared strawberries like. The colour of the body butter is soft pink,as if natural strawberries have been whipped with the butter..smells yum, feels yummier!!! About to hit bottom shows how much I love it!

8. Homemade Body Oil:
Last but technically the first in usage and liking. This is my dry skin saviour actually. Used everyday post bath. Can't survive without this. Its is 2parts coconut oil,2parts olive oil and 1part almond oil mixed together 9and stored in an old clean and clear face wash bottle)
Absolute necessity!

These accompanied with a sunny afternnoon,a hot cup of cream coffee and a lovely book to read..mmm I'm already day dreaming!!!!

Patanjali Crack Heal Cream: Review

19.1.13 14 Comments
Yes most of us love winters but with the chill in the air comes a long list of personal/skin care products to keep ourselves moisturised and supple. A very common side effect of chilly weather is that it takes a toll on your feet and God forbid if you are dry skinned like me..there go a few cents extra to take care of those 'hidden in the socks' feet. I have tried a few cheap and not-so-cheap alternatives/home remedies for heel and foot care and finally gave a try to my beloved brand Patanjali. Lets see what are my views on the product in question i.e. Patanjali Crack Heal Cream.

Our body has a love-hate relationship with sebum. When wehave just the right amount of this oily substance, it helps protect our skin. Sebaceous glands, which produce our body's sebum, are found everywhere on our skin with the exception of the palms of our hands and soles of our feet. And that's the reason why our feet get dry, scaly and cracked.
Moving on to the solution now....
What it Claims: Helpful in healing cracked heals.

Price/Quantity: INR 60/- / 50gm

Ingredients:

Directions for use: Apply 2-3gm on the cracked area.

Packaging:
Patanjali Crack Heal Cream comes in a typical Patanjali yellow squeeze tube with a screw cap. Practical and travel-friendly!

My Take:
Now if you have come across any three posts of mine ,you would be knowing I have a dry skin (though I'm pretty sure I've mentioned that in every post of mine..so in that case make that "any post of mine")Being so, the feet demand some extra pampering from me..more so in winters. I have tried vaseline and foot creams from Avon,Oriflame and the likes. Some were satisfactory some were not worth the price and hype. Then I came across Patanjali Crack Heal Cream. No I did not go through any reviews, didn't seek suggestions..Just saw and bought (Now that's the advantage of a low priced product..you don't have to think twice before buying it)
The colour of Patanjali Crack Heal Cream is pale yellow and it has a pretty strong smell of camphor that might irritate sensitive noses but I like it..very refreshing. The foot cream's consistency is quite thick..just what a foot cream should have. It gets absorbed in the skin as if the skin was aching for it since long :P Post application though it feels nice on the feet,it gives a greasy sticky feel to the palms of my hand and i have to wash my hands off.
Since there is no elaborate "direction to use" on the tube,I did the most common method of soaking scrubbing, wiping and applying the foot-cream method and Whoaaa..within few days my feet became baby soft. It actually works well. Now I don't have scaly/cracked heels but they do become dry and hard if neglected. But whatever the case I love love love this and use it regularly!

My Likes:
1. It actually works..heals cracked heels!
2. Super Affordable.
3. Smells of Camphor.
4. Travel-friendly packaging.
5. Correct consistency for a foot cream.
6. Gets absorbed easily.
7. A little goes a long way.

My Dislikes:
Apart from its availability I cannot find a con and in my the store's near by so absolutely no con for me!

Last Word:
Yes it feels sticky to hands post application but then guys its for feet and as long as it does what it is meant for..and for that matter it does it pretty well....  why do we buy hand washes for?

Repurchase:
Till it gets discontinued...

OverAll Rating: 5/5 (4.9 for sensitive noses)
P.S. Would love to know your HG foot cream?

Patanjali Kesh Kanti Milk Protien Hair Cleanser : Review

23.10.12 2 Comments
My love for herbal products and more so,my so far so good experience with Patanjali products lead me to try yet another stuff  from them. When I went to the Patanjali store (ooops I mean Divya chikitsalaya) to buy their awesome murrabbas (u've got to try their gajar murrabba..sweet toothed homo sapiens gonna love it!) I was reminded of my empty bottle of Kesh Kanti Shampoo. On asking for it i was told it was out of stock, there I saw this white & pink bottle and I was like..yes I have read good reviews about it and I bought it!

What It Claims: Useful in dryness and roughness of hair. Prevents hair fall & improves hair shine.

Price/Quantity: INR 95/- / 200ml

Ingredients:

Direction for use: Apply 2-5 ml on wet hair, massage gently for 1 minute and then rinse with water.

Packaging:
Patanjali Kesh Kanti Milk Protien Hair Cleanser comes in a white plastic bottle with a hot pink flip-open cap.The image of few of its ingredients is depicted on the front of the bottle. Both the bottle and cap are quite sturdy and travel friendly. A no-nonsense practical packaging I guess!

My Take:
To begin with..I gave this hair cleanser a try only because I was totally in love with their original Kesh Kanti Hair Cleanser (reviewd here) and I wanted to know if this new addition to the Patanjali family has the potential enough to replace the golden-oldy :). Lets see how it fares:
Patanjali Kesh Kanti Milk Protien Hair Cleanser is a mild shampoo. It is milky-white in colour, what else colour could they have given it after calling it "milk-protein" :P .Anyways..the consistency is a little runny, unlike their original Kesh Kanti. It has a nice floral fragrance..nothing too fancy. The packaging as said earlier is fine for the price. It does make my broom-like hair soft, doesn't rip off the moisture from my hair. The only thing that is bugging me is..though I'm not amazing in Chemistry,I can still read a lot of chemicals in its base material list (in the pic above) and a lot less herbs than those in the original Kesh Kanti Shampoo. And this difference is pretty visible in the usage of the two as well. This one doesn't smell and look herbal :(

My Likes:
1. Its mild!
2. Cleanses hair and scalp well.
3. Pocket-friendly.
4. Sturdy packaging.
5. Doesn't make my hair dry.
6. SLES (sodium lauryl ether sulfate) free.
(It is an inexpensive foaming agent with emulsifying and cleansing properties.Studies have shown that SLES is a skin irritant first and foremost and has a host of other harmful effects on the body)
7. Easy to wash off.

 My Dislikes:
1. Isn't purely herbal (infact less herbal than the original one)
2. I liked the fragrance of the original one better.
3. Did nothing to my hairfall problem:(

Last Word: This is one Patanjali product that I'm not head over heals in love with. Its just an okayish mild shampoo that cleanses hair n scalp well!

Repurchase: No,I would go back to my love..The Original Kesh Kanti Hair Cleanser

Overall Rating: 3.8/5

*P.S. Do lemme know if you know anything good or bad in its ingredients list and if you have used it.. I'm all eyes and ears!

Patanjali Kesh Kanti Hair Cleanser : Review

30.5.12 25 Comments
Remember that old long haired princess fairy tale, where the Prince used to say :
Rapunzle Rapunzle  ,let down your hair,
So that I may climb The Golden Stair...

Hearing this Rapunzle used to let her hair down from the window and help the Prince climb up to him..Well that being the fairy tale......
In my case,My Prince would not have been able to climb a single stair holding onto my hair lol ...thanks to the multitude problems of hairfall,dry-dull-damaged hair :(

I have this thing in me that the word Herbal rings a bell somewhere deep inside me.So,a year back when I was introduced to Patanjali products by my sister-in-law,this Kesh Kanti Hair Cleanser/Shampoo was the first thing I grabbed from them and I'm glad I did :)

What It Claims:(Was originally in Hindi..has been translated)
Helpful in preventing hairfall and dryness, makes hair healthy, thick and beautiful.

Quantity: 200ml

Ingredients:

Price: INR 65/- (that's unbelievable!)

Packaging:

Patanjali Kesh Kanti Hair Cleanser comes in a yellow plastic bottle with an orange flip-open cap.The image of few of its ingredients is depicted on the front of the bottle. Both the bottle and cap are quite sturdy and travel friendly.Nothing else to brag about!!!!

My Take: In todays lifestyle,we rely more on the cosmetics that on the herbal/homemade stuff for our personal and care.I know its a sin for skin and hair but lack of time and availablity of markets flooded with products are to be blamed for this change in attitude of our generation.Following the treands i too have done a number of tortures to my hair.To begin with,I was never a born Rapunzel.I always had a thick, unruly, curly mane but the problem arrived when the only positivity, the thickness was getting affected..Yup,suffering a number of experiments like hair colouring, streaking, blow drying, flat ironing, curling using tongs, hair sprays,serums....you name it,I've used it all on me :(
Result-----> hairfall,dry and damaged hair!Period.

Patanjali Kesh Kanti Hair Cleanser was the first product I bought from Patanjali that I started using and I must say it has rescued me well from the aforesaid monsters ;) It has considerably reduced my hairfall.I like its smell..its uuuuhhh mmm orangy,citrusy..all in all refreshing. The consistency is just right for a hair cleanser..neither too thick nor runny. It cleanses the scalp and hair well without leaving residues, thus can be easily rinsed off. The best part is that in case you don't have super dry and unruly hair, you won't even require a conditioner post shampooing..yup it makes hair that smooth and tangle-free and to top it all its herbal :)

My Likes:
1.Super affordable :)
2.Cleanses well.
3.Refreshing Orangy Smell.
4.Has wonderful herbs in its ingredients list.
5.Easy to wash off.
6.Controls hairfall (it did mine atleast!)
7.Makes hair smooth.
8.Unbreakable travel friendly packaging.

My Dislikes: Apart from the boring Patanjali packaging I don't see any con,but given the price I don't mind that one bit.

Last Word: This is one product from Patanjali that provoked me to try even more stuff from them.It does the job well and is super cheap.I love It!

Repurchase: My fourth bottle already and considering its a regularly used product..Yes I will surely repurchase!

Overall Rating: 4.8/5

My Summer Loves :)

17.5.12 27 Comments
As a kid,I could never understand the poem "Shall I Compare Thee To A Summers Day". I kept wondering, what came in Shakespeare's mind to compare his beloved's beauty to a summers's day. Obviously I had no idea summers in England are cool and pleasant. But back in our beloved motherland, you say summer and I am reminded of heat, sweat, sun tans,umbrellas,scarfs,sunblock...blah..blah..blah. So much so that I even feel like choosing my clothes and footwear on the basis of SPF they contain ;) Funny but that's the sorry state of summers in India, more so if you are a Homo Sapien and choose North India as your Habitat.
But summers are not just about scorching heat and considering we are brand ambassadors of Positive Thinking and quite adept in finding a silver line behind dark clouds,we do find our ways of beating the summer sun. The rising mercury has its own fair share of beauty in the form of pastels, flowing chiffons, cool ice-creams,peachy cheeks, coral lips and fuschia nails :) (Oh! I wanna dress up now)
Alright stopping the rant and fast forward to My Summer Loves:

1.Jovees Sun block SPF45
Bought this last month from an online shopping site and almost loving it.Its water resistant,oil-free,has SPF 45,non-greasy and affordable..Do I need to say anything more?

2.Patanjali Aloevera Gel
I keep this in my refrigerator and the moment I return home from a harsh sun,I apply this aloevera gel. It instantly soothes the skin and to quite an extent keeps acne and blemishes at bay.Totally love it.

3.Favorite Summer Lipsticks:
I am a self confessed lipstick addict (though I admit my collection would be super micro against that of you gals) Currently I'm loving a lot of peachy-pinky-corals..almost anything with an orange undertone.Few of are My Summer Loves are:

4.Favorite Summer Nail Paints:
I love painting my nails and toes and summers are times when your feet come out of shoes and socks, requires pampering and needs show off ;)
My Summer Loves are:

5.Perfume: Bvlgari Omnia Crystalline
Apart from a few Itars which are my patent and I swear by them, this is one perfume I am lovin' these days.I am bad in describing fragrance (yet to study the notes),will take some time and do the review!

6.Diamonds Pearls & Junk:
I am though not a big jewelery fan,but whatever tiny miny I wear,I like them to compliment the whole look..some traditional and some contemporary..enjoy the pics!!!

Can you guess the price of the multi coloured chunky beads necklace? I'm sure you can't...guess guess..I tell u later :)

7.N Fresh Refreshing Facial Wipes:
I picked up these at dollar store randomly. You can read what all it does on the pack itself..and it stands true to most of what it says. Its refreshing and it is alchohol free.

Apart from these,I'm loving coloured pencil eyeliners in blue, green and plum and apart from personal care and makeup I'm loving Ghar Ki Lassi  and Aam ka Panna :) :) :)

Hope you all enjoyed the post. Do share your summer loves :)

Happy Summers :)
