Sugar Contour De Force Face Palette in Subtle Summit 01: Review, Swatches and Price

17.1.18 0 Comments
Sugar Cosmetics is making waves in the Indian cosmetic industry with their new launches every now and then. Their range of lip products is also impressive ;from matte to cream lipsticks and from lip crayons to liquid lipsticks you can find it all under the Sugar umbrella. I have tried their lip crayons Rose Dawson and Voila
and I can say, I like how smoothly they apply and yet how matte they end up in a matter of few minutes. Another major like about these is that pigmentation isn't an issue with them nomatter how light the shade is and so is the case with their staying power too. Off late I've become a sucker for staying power. I can gladly skip a lip product even if I like a particular shade to death, if it doesn't stay put for a considerable amount of time...not a reapplying girl :/
Coming back to today's product...Sugar Contour De Force Palette.
The brand launched two variants of their bronzer-highlighter-blush trios: 01 Subtle Summit and 02 Vivid Victory.
I chose 01 Subtle Summit basically because I fell for the shades of bronzer and highlighter...I'm not much of a blush person anyway!

Price vs Quantity: INR 799/12gm

Ingredients:
Packaging:

The trio comes housed in a cardboard box with a magnetic closure and a mirror. The purple box looks sassy till it is closed. On opening the packaging isn't anything luxe. I'm not a fan of cardboard packaging anyway but since it is sturdy I guess it will be more travel-friendly than it's plastic counterpart. I've always been a big fan of palettes rather than singles. They are easy to carry around when you are travelling and even if you are not moving around just carrying one palette in your hand that suffices the work of three different products makes it worth.

The con with this palette is that all the details (ingredients, manufacturing date, shelf life etc.) are given on the outer black case and not on the trio palette itself.
Secondly, what irked me was that if the contents of the trio had their own names when they come in singles, why weren't the same printed on the palette too?
Correct me if I'm missing out on something!!
Tip: Write the major details like expiry and stuff at the back of the palette with a thin permanent marker! Atleast I'll do that!

01 Subtle Summit
 01 Subtle Summit
Bronzer- Taupe Topper
The bronzer and highlighter like I said was the major reason I delved into this palette rather than 02. It is a cool toned, muddy brown and I like my bronzers like that. Even though we are warm toned, I somehow feel that warm bronzers end up looking orangey and fake. Whereas, this creates a perfect shadow like contour. The texture is smooth and that assists nice blending.
Highlighter- Champagne Champion
The highlighter of this trio is a gorgeous champagne..rightly named! It is what a highlighter should be. It is intensely pigmented and would look beautiful on a spectrum of skintones. Given the bomb it is, it's highly recommended that initially a lighter hand is used to apply and don't forget to dust off the extra product that your brush picks up to avoid looking like a ball of shimmer.
Blush- Peach Peak
In the pan, it looked like dusty mauvy pink and I was wondering why the hell it's named Peach Peak. But on applying it didn't come off as cool-toned as it appeared in the pan. It does have a peach undertone to it..but basically it is a muted dusky pink. I like that it is absolutely matte and a nice daytime blush.
As I mentioned, palettes are my thing and if all the contents of the palette are more than satisfactory then it's a win-win situation. Both the contour and highlighter are my favourite out of this palette (only because i don't use blush much). The staying power was great when I applied these directly over my foundation, whereas the effect wasn't that long lasting when applied over pressed powder for obvious reasons.
I do find 800/- bucks a bit steep for drugstore but then sugar isn't a cheap drugstore brand anyway so....
I'm skipping FOTD this time..lemme know if you want to see how it looks on me!

Recreating Anushka Shetty's Devasena Look of Bahubali 2

1.5.17 12 Comments
Hallllooo Bellezas..!!!
Its been some time that I posted..writer's block..artist's block..blogger's block..or probably looking for something exciting other than the mundane review posting. Having said that,it's not like I don't like writing reviews but I go through passion-shifting phases in life ;) :P
Anyway, while the world is going gaga over Bahubali-2, I couldn't be left behind. It has been on a smashing ride on the box office ever since its release and this brought me to the idea of recreating the look of the female protagonist Devasena (played by Anushka Shetty) A little about the character:
Devasena (Anushka Shetty) is a princess from Kunthala region, a small but prosperous region in the fictional universe of Mahishmati. She is accomplished, a great warrior and archer who is constantly trying to better her art through diligent practice. Bahubali seems to be impressed more by her technique of martial arts than her beauty — he doesn’t just think of her as a beautiful person, but as someone much more than.
(Source: www.firstpost.com)

Now coming to back to the look that I have created:

Being honest, I've always loved taking part in programmes that required me to dress up in a regional attire..be it dance, skits and stuff at different academic levels. I'm so mesmerized by our country and its resplendent culture that even when I plan a vacation, I try to geographically cover the scattered Indian topographical beauty and foreign lands are still at bay even in my wishlist :)
Given my obsession to our culture and the rave that Bahubali 2 is creating, I thought why not make the most of it and Recreate my version of Devasena. Since Devasena is a princess, the look is a super glam one with heavily kohled eyes and bright attire. Gold jewellery is a characteristic feature of South India and Devasena being a royal couldn't be left behind.
To start off I searched my wardrobe for similar coloured saree and blouse of a matching hue (though it did not match :P) I found this bright hot pink saree with pearl embroidery that I wore for my engagement and the blue kanjivaram blouse is probably the only blue blouse I have!
The second major concern was the jewellery since makeup I knew I had plenty ;) The maangtika is from my wedding. The nath is Maharashtrian nath and I added my own nath's string to it to match the look. I obviously don't have the piercing to wear a septum ring or mookuthi as they call it in south India, so I wore a clip on ear cuff to do justice with the look. The jhumkaas and neckpiece are from my old ethnic jewellery collection.
Now coming to the makeup:

The feature that caught my attention was the heavy kohled eyes and the artistically painted bindi. But since a makeup base is a first step, after moisturizing my skin I applied Colorbar primer followed by Maybelline Fit Me matte n poreless foundation. I applied the Maybelline Fit Me compact only on the under eyes and the sides of the nose which tend to get oily otherwise. Even though the camera isn't catching,I applied The Balm Bahama Mama bronzer and wet n wild blush in pearlescent pink. For the quintessential kohled eyes, I applied a splash of dark brown eyeshadow and lined my upper lash line with the Lakme felt tip eyeliner. I lined my waterline with Lakme Eyeconic kajal and used the Lakme liquid eyeliner for the lower lash line. I applied a mild layer of Maybelline colossal mascara on the eyelashes thinking to wear the falsies later...which I FORGOT :P
For the lips I mixed Lakme 9to5 Rosy Sunday
For the bindi I was pretty purplexed. I searched everything in the house from liquid kumkum to poster colours and I had none.. after searching high and low (yes a BUDGET belleza won't buy stuff for a look..she would just work around what she has :P)
I landed on a liquid lipstick which was way too dark..I mixed some red lipstick (L'oreal Decked in Red) and painted the bindi with a triple 0 paint brush!
That's All folks!!! Hope you will like what I came up with :)
Pray to God I stay motivated to do more stuff :P
I'm praying too :D

Makeup Forever Professional Powder Blush No.130: Review, Price,Swatch and FOTD

5.9.16 2 Comments
 Holaaaa!!!
How's everyone doin' ? I know its been quite sometime but if you guys follow me on facebook and instagram them I'm sure the distance wouldn't seem so long :)
Before I begin to talk about the product,I would like to tell you guys about the recent phase that I'm in (yes I do have fashion phases that may/may not comply to the contemporary trends) So right now I'm totally drenched in my so called ethnic phase. I'm loving everything from apparel to accessory to shoes and bags that screams ETHNIC..and and and..not to forget the makeup looks too..!! Now there's one product that goes extremely well with almost all my warm traditional looks and that is the Makeup Forever Professional Powder Blush No.130
This review, I would call the lonnnnnngest pending review. I've been wanting to talk about this beauty for such a long time now....aaaahhh FINALLY!!
Though none of my makeup look is complete without a blush..lemme admit I'm not a blush hoarder. I somehow feel that adding that rosy glow to your cheeks makes you look vibrant, healthy and happy but at the same time its not something that makes or breaks a look. Also its not even easy to tell a shade from another until and unless they are absolutely contrasting! Nonetheless,I love blushes specially the warm toned ones :)

This MUFE powder blush comes in a beautiful, classy and very sleek packaging. There's a long transparent slit across the black packaging just so that the blush shade is visible..Practical! Though for the price paid I definitely expect a mirror for an easy touch up.
The texture of the MUFE powder blush is a dream to work with.
Its very smooth to touch and this smoothness aids flawless application. It blends really easily. It is neither matte nor glittery. It has very finely milled shimmer (actually just a sheen)
Coming to the shade...yay,the plus point...!!
Its a muted warm burnt orange kinda shade. Its one shade that would look completely different on different skin tones. On pale/lighter skin tones it could even double up as a bronzer whereas on medium to dark skins it would come up as very warm terracotta. It compliments our Indian skin tones and its warmth very nicely. I like to wear it whenever I wear ethnic clothes. The very minute sheen that it has imparts a beautiful glow and and goes well with the embellishments and zari of my clothes.
Pigmentation wise it rocks..its like insanely pigmented..And that shows a red flag to the paler skin tones...Use a LIGHT hand and either blow or tap your brush after picking up the blush to remove the extra product!!
And not just the pigmentation but its staying power is awesome too. It stayed on me for around 4 hours easily without budging and sheen was intact too.
Nothing left its place and traveled elsewhere :P
And this is how it looks on me:

Here, I have used it as a bronzer only and it did justice. Man! I tried the falsies for the first time and how I'm loving the way they change the whole look. On my lips is the much loved Miss Claire Lip Cream !!

Overall, I love the MUFE Powder Blush no.130 but the Budget Belleza in me seriously wishes they provided a mirror if not a brush for $16.

Is this 3$ blush a dupe of Nars Orgasm? Wet N Wild Pearlescent Pink: Review and Swatches

27.6.15 9 Comments
If you ask me which makeup videos I'm addicted to on the YouTube,Dupes of High end products comes in the top 5 list for sure. While going through one such series I was enlightened that Wet n Wild Pearlescent Pink qualifies the category too. And that made me give this brand new baby from my Luxola haul a second glance.
No look is complete without that rosy glow on the cheeks (well I personally prefer peachy glow.. Kinda goes well with my complexion) A blush adds a youthful splash of colour to your face..IF applied correctly...And the blush in question today is Wet N Wild Pearlescent Pink!
Brand Claims:
Price Vs. Quantity:$2.99/4gms

Wet n Wild is a US brand known for its super pigmented n good quality products. I seriously wish Indian market offered us some good quality products which didn't burn a big hole in our handbags..Sighhhhh!!!

Pearlescent Pink comes in a regular plastic packaging with details at the back. The brush that comes along is crappy and that's nothing new! What's good is that it click locks,is light weight and sleek!I cant complain about the cheap packaging of a power packed $3 blush!

The Shade:
The shades available in this range are:
  • Pearlescent Pink
  • Heather Silk
  • Mellow Wine
  • Berry Shimmer
Pearlescent Pink is a beautiful peachy pinky corally blush. But somehow it appears more peachy in the pan than on my skin.  On my NC37 skin,it comes off more pink toned. Its fresh, its bouncy and its youthful.
It has very finely milled gold shimmers that even being miniscule are pretty visible on the cheeks (Mind you they are shimmers not glitters). The shimmers make it more of a night time blush for me though they are super fine and would make you look all radiant and glowy even during the day. It is often claimed to be one of the Nars Orgasm dupe besides Sleek Rose Gold and Milani Luminoso among others. The swatches available online however show Pearlescent pink to be a little more pinkier than the Orgasm to me. Its more coral while Orgasm is more peachy! Still a dupe!
The blush has a very smooth texture, blends easily and is super duper pigmented..So ladies if you don't have a habit of blowing the brush after dipping in the pan...PLZ make a habit coz this power packed beauty has an immense capability of getting you a clown face if not applied carefully!

Wrap-Up:
  • Beautiful Peachy Pink Blush
  • Super Affordable
  • Fine texture
  • Highly pigmented
  • Fine beautiful gold shimmers
  • Long staying power
  • Claimed to be a Nars Orgasm Dupe.
  • Shimmers double up as a highlighter too
  • Blends like a dream
  • Non-indigenous :(

My Top 10 Most Used Makeup Products Of 2014

11.2.15 6 Comments
I know.. I know.. Technically this should have been a December last week or January first week post, but don't forget I'm a mom of a super-desperate-to-walk baby.. So yeah! On my toes!!

I wanted to do a 5 most used beauty products post, but the rest five gave me a cold stare sitting in the stash..rather jumping out of the stash! So presenting the 10 most used (read loved) beauty products of 2014:
(In no particular order)

1. Patanjali Aloevera gel
Multipurpose is it's middle name. Works well as a primer, acne soother, face pack base, depigmentation gel, night treatment, hair pack base. On and on and on....

2. Maybelline dream mouse liquid foundation in creamy natural
Love it. Easy to apply, easy to blend, gives airbrush kinda finish if applied with a stippling brush. No cakeyness no dry patches. C'mon it's just a foundation not your husband, you can't expect more!!!
My go to contour powder. Without you I look like a pumpkin ;)

4. Oriflame giordani gold mascara
The perfect mascara to give those falsies kinda effect. Best I've evaaa come across!

5. Colorbar Peachy Rose Blush
Almost hitting pan. It's peachy pink with a nice sheen. Not matte not shimmery. Apt for every day wear!

6. Faces long wear eyeliner pencils in navy blue and forest green
Epic!!! I'm sold to these!
Pretty peachy nude.. Wear it during the day or pair it up with smoky eyes at night for that sizzling effect!
Efforts of creative eye looks would have gone down the drain if not for this baby!
All those creative eye looks would have gone wasted without this baby..

9. Maybelline Chai latte quad
Total love! Gimme any dress, any occasion, day or night and I can make this work.
Useful tip- The darkest shade in the quad doubles up wonderfully as a brow powder!

10. Makeup brushes
Well, technically these are not products but the rest of the products would be nothing in the absence of makeup tools.
Stippling brush, angled blush/contouring brush, angled eye-shadow brush and eye brow groomer...you guys are my oxygen!

That's it for today beauties....

Colorbar Blush in Peachy Rose: Review,Swatches and FOTD

14.2.14 20 Comments
This reminds me of my second post on Budget Belleza.. It was about a blush only, Maybelline Dream Mousse Blush to be precise and ever since this is just the fourth blush I'm reviewing..Guess I should get more :)
This is my first from Colorbar.. and the way Colorbar is hiking the price of its blushes...I guess its my last too :(
Moving on to Colorbar Blush in Peachy Rose:
Company Claims:
The Blusher accentuates the cheek area giving a glow to the face. This talc free, silky powder contains a moisture balance formula that is easy to blend and keeps the skin smooth, hydrated and nourished for soft cheeks with just the right hint of color.

Price vs. Quantity: INR 375/- for 6gm

Ingredients:

Packaging:
Colorbar Blush in Peachy Rose comes in a round silver pan with two compartments. One carries the blush pan while the other has a brush in it. It does not come with a mirror and the brush provided is of no use. The packaging is bulging and not very sleek to fit in small makeup pouches and is not stackable either.

Shade:
This particular shade Peachy Rose has been quite an attention grabber in the blogosphere,so much so that it has been even compared to Benefit Corallista. Peachy Rose is a yellow toned pink with very slight shimmer..that just gives a healthy,just-out-of-the-gym glow. Its more rosey than peachy though!

My Take:
Peachy Rose is a super-pigmented beautiful blush and keeping that in mind, you have to go really light handed with this baby! The texture is very smooth and it blends on really well. The staying power is impressive, when worn directly on base makeup sans the compact/powder,it stays on for 5hours on me pretty easily. The rosey colour is going to suit almost all skin tones (lighter ones..go light handed,it has an amazing ability to make you clown face)..
I don't like colorbar blushes' packaging, infact I prefer Lakme Pure Rouge ones'. They are easy to pack in makeup bag and are stackable too. Plus the brush provided...aaah! why did they even provide it?
And this is how it looks on me:

My Likes:
  • Soft everyday shade.
  • Almost matte with a beautiful sheen..no shimmer!
  • Soft and smooth finish.
  • Blends easily.
  • Peachy rose would look good on all skin tones.
  • Super-pigmented.
  • Good staying power.

My Dislikes:
  • More Rosey than Peachy :(
  • I don't like the round bulging packaging.
  • No mirror provided.
  • Brush hat comes with it is useless.
Last Word:
The shade goes on with most of the looks and colours. The pigmentation and texture is good enough to make it the blush I reach out for most of the time.

Repurchase:
I guess this exact range and shade has been discontinued by the brand and it now comes in a new packaging with similar looking shades having different names at a much higher price... So I guess, the question of repurchase doesn't arrive!

Over All rating: 4/5

Why Lakme Pure Rouge Blusher in Honey Bunch saved my bucks on expensive Bronzers? Review,Swatches and FOTD

6.2.14 26 Comments
I can't emphasize the importance of a blush/bronzer in my life enough..Bronzers are the perfect way to get that summer look year-round. These products don’t really call attention to themselves when applied properly. But it only takes a couple minutes for them to add a gorgeous radiance to your skin. Lakme Pure Rouge Blusher in Honey Bunch is actually a blusher that would look very nice on dusky beauties, but on my skin tone it works well as a bronzer..read on to know more:
Company Claims:
Price vs Quantity: INR450/6gm

Shades Available:
Honey Bunch is a warm brown shade without any shimmer (though a slight shimmer is visible in the pan,it does not get transfer to the skin). The packaging shows it as a true brown shade but on my skin it shows pink undertones as well. The fact that it has satin matte finish makes it super wearable even during the day.

Packaging:
It comes in a boring purplish-maroon square case, with a transparent attached lid. It also has a brush inside which is hardly of any use. The only good thing is that it is sleek enough to fit in your every day makeup pouch that you carry in your handbag.

My Take:
I personally love using bronzers and blushes. They give so much definition to the face.Bronzer is one item that can really make or break your look. It can make you look warm, glowy, and naturally enhanced or it can just make you look like a clown. A good rule of thumb is to just choose a color two shades darker than your skin tone. Any darker and you will be slinging mud on your face. Since Honey Bunch is almost 2-3 shades darker than my natural skin tone,I very conveniently use it to contour my face. It works equally well as a day+night time blush too.
And this is how it looks on me:

My Likes:
  • A blush that would work on all skin types.
  • Works well as a bronzer/contour powder on lighter skin tones.
  • The texture is very smooth.
  • Blends easily.
  • The blush can be built upon.
  • Decently pigmented.
  • Stays on for 4 to 5 hours.
  • Gives a satin matte finish.
  • Gives definition to the face.
  • Sleek travel friendly packaging .
My Dislikes:
  • No mirror provided.
  • Brush is of no use.
  • No ingredient list.
Last Word:
My goto everyday blush,that I personally use a s a bronzer.

Repurchase:
Yup Sure!!!
