Eyebrow Tutorial : How To Get Beautiful Thick Brows In 6 Easy Steps !!

12.9.16 4 Comments
You Guessed it right..Its the Eyebrow Tutorial today!!
And before I start, I would like to thank all of you for the love and support you have shown. All of you who have appreciated my work and came up to clear your thoughts or request a tutorial whether as direct messages on instagram or texts on facebook and even emails.. take this as a personal thank note !!
I have always felt that out of all our facial features, beauty passions, cosmetic buys and makeup discussions EYEBROWS have been the most underrated feature of our face. When we think of dressing up, makeup base (foundation), lip products and eyeshadows are our major concern and we quite at times overlook the fact that eyebrows are a very essential facial feature that needs due recognition. Eyebrows provide a frame to the face and if done properly ,they lift up your whole look. In the absence of neatly and prominently done eyebrows the face looks incomplete even if rest of the makeup is on point.
And you guys..thick, groomed brows were the latest trend that came across even in the recent New York Fashion Week!!
So beauties...DON'T ignore thy brows!!
Without further delay..lets get started!!

Things You'll Need (in order of usage) :
  • Tweezers
  • Eyebrow groomer brush (even a toothbrush works)
  • Small angled brush
  • Brow powder/Matte Brown Eyeshadow/ Matte Brown Gel Liner
  • Concealer
  • Flat Concealer Brush
  • Q-tip
  • Brow Gel/Hair Spray with a Spoolie
Method:

1. Shaping : First of all you need a clean slate to work on. Any amount of precision would not look beautiful if tiny little hair are sticking out of the brow line. So pick up your tweezers and pluck all the extra hair to get a clean brow area. Also generally when we do things ourselves,we tend to ignore the area above our brows and concentrate mainly on the brow bone zone. Don't do that, take out the extras from below and above your brow.

2. Brushing/Grooming : Now that you have cleaned your brows of any extra hair, brush them with an eyebrow groomer to make them smooth and to expose the areas that need to be filled in the next step. If you have a well-practiced hand then you can even cut any hair that's sticking out of the brows. But leave this step if you don't have a steady hand. In case you don't have an eyebrow groomer brush, you can use a baby brush which serves the purpose just right.

3. Filling : Third step is the main step...Filling your brows. Now there's a plethora of eyebrow filling products from the good old eyebrow pencils to brow powders and wax to even brow mousse with a mascara like (spoolie) wand. Traditionally, we rely on eyebrow pencils to fill our brows but i find them looking too harsh on me. Truly speaking you can use ANY MATTE DARK BROWN EYESHADOW OR BRONZER for a natural looking fuller eyebrows.
I personally alternate between a slightly dry dark brown gel eyeliner, The Balm Bahama Mama bronzer or even the dark brown eyeshadow from the Maybelline Chai Latte Quad.
With an angled brush draw a defined line below and above your brow if you have sparse eyebrows (in case you already have thick brows, just draw a line along the brow line). While filling your brows, apply very light strokes on the inner and outer end because it looks really unnatural if you do the beginning and end heavily. You can apply with a little heavy hand on the arch of the brow though.

4. Clean Up The Mess: This is easy..take a q-tip and clean up any product that has come out of the brows (below and above).

5.  Highlighting: This is an underrated yet very important step. Once you are done with shaping and filling your brows, take a concealer that is one or two shades lighter to your skin tone and highlight just below and above your brow. Blend it well (you can totally use your fingers instead of the concealer brush). This will pop out your brows beautifully and give a nice frame to the face.

 6. Apply Gel and Let It Set: Now that your eyebrow is groomed, filled and highlighted, apply some gel on them and brush with a groomer or spoolie (or again..a baby brush) so that they stay in their place and don't budge. There are various options in the market for brow gels, however I use Patanjali Aloevera Gel and it does its job. A spoolie sprayed with a hair spray is a popular budget hack to replace an expensive brow gel.
TaaaDaaaaa...You're done!!!
Here's the complete look:

I tried incorporating everything that I personally do for my brows though there are much extensive ways of doing it.
Hope you guys liked it :)

How to Create a Lip Pot out of Leftover Lipsticks: DIY,Tute and Swatches

26.2.14 19 Comments
Hola Bellezas...
This is for all you beauties who wanted to know through Facebook and emails, how I did a custom-made lip pot out of leftover lippies..
Lets begin with the outcome first :

Makeup can get expensive. And being a BUDGET belleza,I have a hard time trashing anything... specially the lippies that were once my favourite. So,I generally used to fix the broken lippies rather than throwing them out..But this time I went a step further and used even the leftover lipstick in the tube, which had no future otherwise..
I've always known that when you hit the plastic base of the lipstick, there is always some product left over in there. Sometimes, if it was a color I loved, I would take a lip brush and use a little bit more. I was thinking it was just a wee bit that was left in there. But no,last night when I inserted a toothpick inside the tube,it was half way in there. There was so much lipstick in there..!!!!
Here's what I did:
Note: Since it is a requested post,I could not click pics step wise. The pics are combined to make the post comprehensive!

From a Leftover Lipstick to a Moisturizing Lip Pot:Here's How
Things you will need:

  • Broken or leftover lipsticks (Do check their expiry date before using)
  • Leftover lip balms/ Vaseline.
  • Microwave safe container/ Metal plate.
  • Microwave/ Candle.
  • Orange stick/ Toothpick.
  • An empty container with a lid/ Sample jar/ Old lip balm pot.
  • Tissues.
  • Rubbing Alcohol.

Instructions:

  • Take a microwave safe container and clean it using some rubbing alcohol..let it dry.
  • Scrape out the lipstick from its plastic base using a tooth pick/orange stick and collect in the container. I used my finished Avon Simply Pretty in Mango Mania and Maybelline Moisture Extreme in Pure Plum.

  • Now scrape out the lipbalms into the same container. Incase you don't have leftover lipbalms, you can use vaseline as well.
  • Adjust the quantity of lipstick and lip balm according to your needs. I wanted a hydrating lip product thus I added more lipbalm.
  • Microwave the container for a min. Keep a check on it every 20 seconds. It should only heat up enough to get mixed well and NOT boil.

  • Now take an empty jar which has a lid. It could be an empty single eye shadow container,a sample jar or an old lip balm pot. I used my empty Lotus lip balm pot. Clean it well using some rubbing alcohol in a tissue. Let it dry completely.
  • When completely dry transfer the liquid lipstick from the microwave to the Lip pot.
  • Keep it in deep freeze for 30 minutes.
  • And you have your very own custom made, super hydrating lip pot :)
The lip swatch is more true to colour than hand swatch!
The lasting power is around 2-3hrs. If you want more staying power, add less lip balm. Moisturization and longevity are inversely proportional in Lipstick Chemistry :P
Hope you liked it as much as I'm lovin' it :)
P.S. If you don't want to microwave, you can collect the scarped out material in a metal plate and melt it over a candle..Simple!!!

DIY : Primer that works just as fine as a Day Cream too !!!

12.11.13 30 Comments
Hola Chicas,
Until I was introduced to the beauty blogging world,I thought Primers are just for the walls and furniture. Though I don't claim to be absolutely ignorant about makeup before blogging happened, but Primer was one thing I was totally oblivious off. But with more reading and the ever growing contacts with you guys made me aware of ..... Primers...along a few other things!
All right, now this one's a DIY in the truest of the sense as all of us have almost all the ingredients athome.
Lets take a look at what all you'll need:
  • Aloevera gel
  • Face moisturiser
  • Foundation (that matches)
  • Container with lid
  • Spoon/Spatula for mixing
Here,I am using Patanjali Aloevera Gel, Avon Nourishing Cream and Lakme Perfecting Liquid Foundation. But you can use any moisturiser and foundi...aloevera gel is a must!!
All you need to do is:
  • Take a clean container, wipe the container, lid and mixing spoon  off with some rubbing alcohol to sanitize it.
  • Mix Aloevera gel, Moisturiser and Foundation in 2:1:1 ratio, that is two parts of aloevera gel and one part of moisturiser and foundation each and mix well.
  • Remember the ratio may vary according to the climate and skin type. Eg. More moisturiser in winters and for dry skinned people.
Tadaaaa.. Your homemade primer is ready. Apply this before using a foundation for that flawless looking you and to make your makeup stay longer on you :)
Although I just apply this and a concealer and I'm good to go as this itself has foundation in it..So,if you are looking for less coverage, just this would suffice.
That's it for today..hope you liked !!!

  • Take a bright orange eyeshadow and pack 3/4 of your eyelids with it (pat-pat motion,no sweeping)
  • Apply a bright purple eyeshadow on the out corners of your eyes, making a V shape.
  • Blend the purple eyeshadow in the crease as well.

  • Apply kohl on your waterline.
  • Now apply the same eyeliner below the lashline..corner to corner.
