What to do when you buy powder/compacts darker than your skin tone? Savvy by DB !

5.4.14 14 Comments
Well there are times when you get certain cosmetics as gifts and then you spend a great amount of energy in finding a perfect use to it. Though it happens rarely with me,but when it does.....this is what happens!!!
I got this Savvy Pressed Powder in dark as a gift from Australia, the shade being way to dark than my skin....read on to know how I made it work for me:

Product Description:
Savvy by DB is an Australian brand and is available at Priceline. Though the packaging says its made in China. Visit the link to know more.

Packaging:
It comes in a deep plum, round, plastic case. The see-through sttached lid has the brand name. The pan is sturdy enough and the lid click locks. Is comes without a mirror/brush.

Shade,Ingredients and Weight:
This is the issue...since it was a gift, the exact matching shade wasn't even expected. But this was at-least 2-3shades darker than my skin tone. Applying it all over my face makes me look sun burnt :(

How I Made it Work for Me:
The shade being darker like I just said made me look sun-burnt instead of sun-kissed ;)
But the formula and staying power tempted me to use it. So I thought it would be best if I used it as a bronzer instead of powder. This being matte does full justice as a bronzer and is perfect for the day time when you want to look a bit chiseled without being OTT. I wore this in my No-Makeup Look Post, and this is how it looked on me!
Sorry for not posting a new pic..I somehow didn't feel like doing FOTDs..will compensate this with something else in the upcoming posts :)

Till then:

Fresh,Natural,No-Makeup Look Using Drugstore Products:Tutorial

14.12.13 33 Comments
Remember the advertisement?
"Maybe she's born with it,Maybe its Maybelline !!!"
The irony is...a lot of makeup goes into creating a No-Makeup Look, just as the amount of effort taken to create an out-of-the-bed messy hair ;)
Today I'm going to tell you how to apply makeup just to hide your flaws and enhance your best features.
The aim is to achieve a fresh, effortless, natural look using pocket-friendly products and not look made-up.
Here's the finished look for you all:
The products used for this everyday look are:

How To:
FACE:
  • Apply moisturiser on a clean face.
  • Dab a few dots of a medium coverage foundation and blend using fingers,stippling/kabuki/foundation brush or makeup sponges. I used a stippling brush.
  • Apply a concealer in under eyes and blend using fingers.
  • I did not apply powder/compact. If you want, take some on a powder brush and just sweep through your face,to set the makeup.
  • Apply bronzer or any powder that is 3-4 shades darker than your skin tone in the hollows of your cheeks...I don't have hollows,I have to create :P
  • Just above the bronzer apply a soft pink/peach blush on the apples of your cheeks.
  • Above the blush and on your cheekbones apply highlighter.
This is the way bronzer, blush and highlighter should go!

EYES:
  • Apply primer. I used Bys eyeshadow mousse in gold.
  • Pick a colour just a shade darker for your lid area and pack your lids with it.
  • On the outer corner use a little darker taupe/brown eyeshadow and take it to the crease.
  • Apply a brown eyeliner.
  • Curl your lashes and apply mascara.
  • Now if you have brow powder that suits you,use that! Else, use any matte dark brown eyeshadow to fill your eyebrows.
  • Apply the same highlighter on your brow bone that you applied on your cheek bones.
LIPS:
  • Apply a nude/soft pink,peach/an mlbb lipstick of your choice.
  • I love Colorbar Over The Top,but to sheer it out I applied a non-tinted lip balm underneath.
And you are DONE!
