Nail Of The Week- Avon Speed Dry+ Nail Enamel in Twilight Blue:Review Swatches NOTW

24.7.13 12 Comments
Here is another NOTW and this time its from the Speed Dry range of Avon.
Check it out:
Company Claims:
  • New improved formula with Flash Dry Technology.
  • Provides full and even coverage and high shine.
  • Stays colour true and resists dulling.
Price/Quantity: INR 165/8ml (almost always on offer though)

Packaging:

Avon Speed Dry+ nail enamels come in square glass bottles with a black screw cap.I like their square shape and more than that I like that the shade names are printed on the bottle itself rather than a cap sticker. All in all good packaging.

Shade: Twilight Blue
Twilight Blue is a deep dark blue with shimmers !!

My Take:
This is not a recent purchase. I picked this up about one and a half year ago. The shade was obviously the reason behind..it a very deep blue almost leaning towards black. The texture is not smooth, the brush screechy and the staying power crappy :/

My Likes:
1. Nice shade..makes my hand look neat!
2. Comes cheap on offer.
3. Like the glass bottle shape.
4. They have names..and that too names printed on the bottle itself!

My Dislikes:
1. Starts chipping withing 24hrs.
2. Brush is screechy.
3. The formula isn't smooth

Last Word:
No matter how affordable a nail paint is and what all wonderful shades it has to offer..I still expect it to perform its basic task i.e. applying smoothly and staying long, which this product doesn't seem to do!

Repurchase:
Never a nail paint that doesn't stay for even a day...oh its rhyming :)

Avon My Lip Miracle in IncREDible: Review and Swatches

20.7.13 22 Comments
Red lipstick!!!
Many of us Love it..Some of us Hate it..
We find it gorgeous, sexy, intimidating, confident, loud, jazzy, attention seeker, party wear....and the list goes onnnnnnnnnnn!!
Crux of the matter=love or loathe it..you cannot ignore it!
One such lipstick is the Avon My Lip Miracle lipstick in IncREDible.
This is the one I'm wearing in my Profile Pic :) (towards the right)
This beauty was gifted to me and it came all the way from Australia,so I don't know the price of it..Moreover I haven't come across this in Avon India Catalog since the times I have been lipstick aware!!

Packaging:
No complains at all..
It comes in a shimmery blue case of metal finish. The cap click locks. It is an amazing combo of class and sturdiness!

Shade:
IncREDible is a gorgeous cherry red shade with slight blue undertones. A deep red with pink undertones. Would look great on fair, medium, dusky skin tones. It actually makes one look a shade or two lighter. Since its quite deep a shade,I prefer applying it with a lip brush.

Texture:
IncREDible is a creamy lipstick. Not as creamy as Maybelline moisture extremes and Nyx round lipsticks but still creamy on application and finally settles to a creamy matte finish. It does transfer but never bleeds.

Pigmentation:
IncREDible is awesomely pigmented. A single swipe is enough,I apply again only for the finishing touches and not for the colour (when directly from tube)

Staying Power:
It stays on for 4-5 hours with light meals..
My Likes:
1. Gorgeous deep cherry red shade.
2. Moisturising.
3. Good staying power.
4. Very well-pigmented.
5. Beautiful packaging.
6. Sturdy..Travel friendly.
7. Will suit all skin tones.
8. Does not bleed.
9. This particular shade makes the face glow :)
10. Though I don't know its price but considering its from Avon..it won't burn a hole in the pocket.
11. Tasteless.
12. Odorless.
13. I love the shade name :D

My Dislikes:
1. It transfers.
2. Its not an everyday wear kind off shade.
3. Availability :(

And this is how it looks on me..I have it on in my profile pic!!!

Last Word:
Avon My Lip Miracle in IncREDible is a beautiful deep cherry red that brightens up the whole look.

Repurchase:
Only if I could..though it will last me long as I generally don't wear such bold-n-bright shades!

Purple-Orange Eye Makeup Tutorial: My First EOTD :)

17.7.13 41 Comments
Not that I'm new to eye makeup..I've never done a post on it.
And that's pretty much a reason why I posted this pic on Facebook yesterday, because I wanted to know if you guys really like it!!
To all those who follow me on Facebook and those who appreciated the look...Thank You <3
And here's the tute :

Products Used:
  • Colorbar concealer stick in Caramel Treat
  • BYS eye shadow mousse in Gold
  • 120 eyeshadow palette
  • Miss Claire single eyeshadow no.0231
  • Maybelline Chai latte Quad
  • Lakme Insta eyeliner
  • Eye lash Curler
  • Maybelline Collosal Mascara
  • Avon Coloured Kohl in Brown Black
  • Vega angled eye brush
  • Coastal Scents brush
  • Faces eyeshadow brush

Method:
  • First of all conceal the under eyes. I have used colorbar concealer stick in Caramel treat.
  • Apply Primer. I've used BYS eyeshadow mousse in gold as a primer (don't go by the name its not shimmery)
  • Take a bright orange eyeshadow and pack 3/4 of your eyelids with it (pat-pat motion,no sweeping)
  • Apply a bright purple eyeshadow on the out corners of your eyes, making a V shape.
  • Blend the purple eyeshadow in the crease as well.
  • Blend..Blend..Blend for a seamless look.
  • Apply a silver/off white eyeshadow on the brow bone. I've used Miss Claire eyeshadow no.0231 for highlighting the brow bone.
  • Apply a black eyeliner (liquid/gel) giving it a slight winged shape.
  • Apply kohl on your waterline.
  • Now apply the same eyeliner below the lashline..corner to corner.
  • Curl your lashes.
  • Apply 2-3 coats of mascara..better still wear falsies!
  • Groom your eyebrows , I've applied the dark brown eyeshadow from the Maybelline chai latte quad using the vega angled brush to fill up the gaps of my eye brows. I applied a bit of Vaseline instead of an eyebrow wax..to keep the hair in place :P
  • Ta..daaaa..you're done :)
Hope you liked it :)
P.S. I'm new into the eye-makeup arena..so suggestion are welcome!!

Nails of The Week :) Elle 18 nail pops No. 68: Review,Swatches,NOTW

16.7.13 17 Comments
We can never have enough nail paints..Can We?
Well this is my first brush with Elle 18 Nail Pops and I must say...or maybe I'll say later :P
Brand Info:
Elle 18 is a color cosmetics range launched in 1998. Elle 18 Color Bombs is an exciting and funky range of color cosmetics and has been designed for young trendy girls. The range designed in cool shapes has explosively vibrant colors for lips, nails and eyes. The products are packed with the goodness of Cocoa butter, Jojoba Oil, Rose Water and Almonds.

Product Info:
Elle 18 presents funky, youthful nail colors in explosive shades.

Price Vs. Quantity: INR 50/ 5ml

Packaging:
Elle 18 nail pops come in a small round bottle. They occupy unnecessary space in my stash because of their round shape. The brush is too small for comfort.

Shade:
No.58 is a deep ash grey shade that looks gorgeous.

My Take:
As said earlier, this is my first Elle 18 nail paint. Though I'm not happy with the packaging,I can't say the same about the formula. It has the right consistency. Doesn't take an hour to get dry and the staying power is decent too. Mine did not chip for 4-5 days without a top coat. But the brush is too small for comfortable application and is screechy too.

My Likes:
1. Has an array of shades to choose from.
2. Did not take too long to dry.
3. Did not chip for 4-5 days.
4. Easy on pocket.
5. Easily available....everywhere!!!

My Dislikes:
1. Round bottle occupies unnecessary space in stash.
2. Brush too small for comfort.
3. Brush quality wasn't good.
4. I wish they had shade names instead of numbers.

Last Word:
Elle 18 nail pops are good for the price but I would still prefer street wear colour rich nail enamel for the same price!

Repurchase:
Not the same shade!

Small Little Haul :)

13.7.13 10 Comments
Well this isn't the Quench-your-beauty-thirst kind of a haul..Its rather a very-in-need kind. Out of this some stuff I'm trying for the first time while others are repurchases!!!
Lets catch them individually :)
Vaseline Healthy White Triple Lightening Body Lotion with SPF 24 :
This is repurchased for the second time. I like it in summers. Smells and feels good and has aan added advantage of SPF 24 :)

Himalaya Herbals Refreshing and Clarifying Toner:
This again is a repurchase though I liked its Papa variant more..aka the older one.. reviewed here
It smelled awesome (had jasmine and lemon)!!

Vaadi Herbals Perky Peach Soap:
Tried this for the first time. It smells fruity and sweet and does nothing that a normal soap can't do!
Review coming shortly!!!

Street Wear Colour Rich Nail Enamel in Cadillac Pink:
I love Street Wear nail paints. Infact if I have to mention one beauty product that's cheapest and yet has quality,it would be this. Cadillac pink is a candy floss bubble gum pink.

Tweezers:
I saw this on an oriental website and was head over heals in love with it..So very girly!!!!
And then I found this at a local beauty store and grabbed it asap. It comes in many variants..that is,girls in different dresses and hair dos. I forgot to click it from the other side, which shows the back of the girl :P ..Practical!!!

Fab India Vit E De-Pigmentation Cream:
I saved this for the last. This was actually the reason behind the haul. Have read so many good reviews of it that I had to give it a try considering I have slight dark patches on my cheeks. Not very noticeble but then you know how women are ;)
Will try to review this one asap!!!
Hope you enjoyed :)
XOXO

Lakme Perfecting Liquid Foundation in Marble: Review and Swatch

12.7.13 28 Comments
Foundations....aaah!!!!!
A never ending saga indeed. You get a shade lighter or get a shade darker  or at times the shade matches you well but the undertones don't..
But somehow I've never had a hard luck with foundations.Even the one that was gifted to me ended up being my HG Foundi. You can see the review here:
Coming to the Lakme Perfecting Liquid Foundation. This is my first Lakme foundation though I wonder WHY???
Company Claims:

Lakme Perfecting Liquid Foundation blends easily into your skin to create a soft glowing and feather like finish.
A water resistant, oil free formula with Vitamin E that provides superior coverage
It contains Vitamin E that soothes and moisturizes the skin.
The silicones help in easy application, spreading evenly for an even toned look.

Price Vs. Quantity: INR 105/ 27ml

Packaging:
Lakme Perfecting Liquid Foundation comes in rectangular flat glass bottle with a screw cap..no pump dispenser..no nozzle. Absolutely nothing to control the amount of the product :/
Lakme should work on the packaging!

Shades:

Lakme Perfecting Liquid Foundation comes in four shades:
  • Pearl
  • Marble (the one I have)
  • Shell
  • Coral

While Pearl is for Very Fair skinned with pink undertones,Marble has very strong yellow undertones and caters to Fair to Wheatish skin tones. Shell is for duskier beauties (though it didn't look like it would suit duskies) and the store didn't have Coral so I can't really say about it (SA said its least in demand).

My Take:

Though I must be the last one in the country to try the Lakme Foundations so late,I'm happy I did. I have all the good things to say about this little glass bottle (except it being the glass bottle :/ )
I wonder how I didn't give it try yet. Its medium coverage, light weight, oil free and gives apretty matte finish. Lets jump to the pros and cons.

My Likes:
1. The Shade (Natural Marble) matches me well :D
2. Decent coverage for everyday use (read medium).
3. Light on skin.
4. Pretty Oil-free (and I'm saying this in super humid July).
5. Doesn't make me sweat.
6. Did not break me out.
7. Fairly matte finish (better than maybelline bb stick)
8. Blends easily.
9. Easily available.
10. Cheapest branded foundi..I guess!
11. Non-bothersome smell.
12. Neither runny nor too thick.

My Dislikes:
1. All the Indian girls have to adjust with just 4 shades.
2.Boring,impractical packging..Lakme?Atleast a nozzle if not pump dispenser?
3. Glass bottle..breakable..not travel friendly!

Last Word:
Lakme improve the packaging and I'll give you 5/5 :D

Repurchase:
Yes!

Maybelline Colorama in Bale Classico: Review,Swatches and NOTD

10.7.13 10 Comments
I always like alternating my nail paint shades...like I need a bright fuschia post a grey nail paint...and then the fuschia is followed by a nude enamel.
Lets see how this beige nude nail paint by Maybelline fares:
Company Claims:
Glossy, chip resistant nail color in vibrant color.Maybelline Colorama Nail Color offers high-gloss nail color with over 5 days wear without chipping. It combines a visually stunning palette of pigments, pearls and glitters. It’s the ultimate accessory that transforms your look from day to night, fun to funky and classic to daring in a flash.

Price Vs. Quantity: INR 100/ 8ml

Packaging:
Maybelline Colorama in Bale Classico comes in a flat oblong glass bottle with a white cap.As the cap is quite long,it makes the application of the nail paint super convenient. The applicator brush has non-screechy soft bristles which allow smooth application.

Shade:
Bale Classico is a nude beige shade..Its very true to skin and that is why it works wonderfully well in french manicures.. Its Classico for sure ;)

My Take:
This is one shade I like to wear all the time. Its nude, its classy and it goes with everything you wear. If like me you are also a fan of French Manicures, apply Bale Classico as your base coat and paint your tips white and your nails would look amazing. The long cap makes the grip and application very very convenient.I guess this is what I liked most about Maybelline Colorama. The brush/applicator was nice gave smooth swipes. The colour shows up properly in two swipes (one swipe is not opaque enough). The staying power is nothing to go gaga about. Without a top coat it won't survive on me for even 3days.

My Likes:
1. The applicator/brush is easy to hold.
2. Beautiful,soft nude shade.
3. The bottle consumes less space because of its shape.
4. Did not take huge time in drying (could be because of the top coat).
5. The brush gives nice finish (not screechy at all).
6. Pocket-friendly so collecting different colours would be fun.
7. Works great with French Manicures.

My Dislikes:
The staying power isn't that awesome.Started chipping the third day :(

Last Word:
I absolutely love the shade. Even the formula for the price isn't bad!

Repurchase:
Till Eternity...............

Over All Rating: 4/5

P.S. In the above pics I have 3 coats of Bale Classico followed with a top coat.
