Himalaya Herbals Deep Cleansing Milk: Review

26.3.12 22 Comments
Getting dolled up is our birth right but removing the paint and powder is our fundamental duty.Of all the sins a woman can commit 'sleeping with makeup on' scores to be the biggest one ;) (thanks to the aftermath..pimples,acne,breakouts...synonyms with a sole result-an added wrinkle on the forehead because of the sheer tension of it).All right, putting exaggerations
aside and coming back to the real world...to rescue out the beauties from the aforesaid situation, the national and international cosmetic markets are flooded with cleansers, cleansing milks, makeup removers and the like.Being "Budget" belleza,I found Himalaya Herbals Deep Cleansing Milk to be one of the most affordable ones coming from a fairly reliable brand as well.

What It Claims:

 Quantity: 200 ml

 Price: INR 105/-
 Ingredients:

Packaging: Himalaya Herbals Deep Cleansing Milk comes in their trademark white plastic bottle with a green flip-open cap.
The cap was so flimsy that it broke the very same week
it was bought (Now I have no option but to open the screw cap everytime I have to use it). Other than that nothing specific to elaborate on.

Consistency:

My Take: After reading and listening so much about the skincare routine in the beauty circles, youtube, beauty blogs and in day-to-day life,I decided to start some kind of a daily, weekly and monthly skin care routine. When I googled about it,I came across the term CTM (yaa yaa..I know all of you know its Cleansing Toning Moisturisng) as often as we sang the national anthem in our school ;)
Without wasting a moment I ordered the requisites from an online shopping site and then came this Himalaya Herbals Deep Cleansing Milk.

Coming from a reliable brand like Himalaya Herbals I had some expectations (if not high hopes) from this product, but it did not make me happy. When I used it for the first time,it actually tested my patience while coming out of the bottle. The consistency is so thick it just doesn't come out of the flip opening.I always have to unscrew the whole cap to get some product after shaking it several times (so the broken flap of the cap was already of no use). By no means should it be called cleansing "milk",its rather a thick cleansing cream.More quantity of it gets used up because of its thick consistency. As far as its makeup removing quality is considered,it does what any other cleansing product would do (Okie..I know it cleansed all the above swatches well but believe me my son's Jhonsons baby lotion too does it equally well). Back home from a party I cleansed my face and was so happy to see the cotton ball all covered up with my makeup, but I thought why not use a makeup removing pad above it to see if there's any trace of makeup left on my face..to my surprise Himalaya Herbals Deep Cleansing Milk had just removed the lipstick and compact, the foundation was very much there on my face which came off with the makeup removing pad.
Post application it leaves the face a bit greasy, you have to either apply a toner or wash the face off with a face wash.Since I have a super dry skin,it worked okay on me in winters (on my skin it wasn't very greasy, rather it moisturised the skin then) but in summers its a no-no for me! Though it claims to be suitable for all skin types,I seriously doubt oily skinned beauties will like it!!

My Likes:)
1.Herbal
2.Inexpensive ;)
3.Unbreakable therefore travel friendly (especially smaller quantities)

My Dislikes:(
1.Formula very thick for cleansing "milk"
2.Brittle flimsy flip cap
3.Not appropriate for deep pore cleansing as it claims.
4.Greasy post application
5.Not for ALL skin types
6.Even though in its inactive ingredients list, there are paraben contents in it
7.Requires cotton pads as against the makeup removing pads and wipes available in the market which are easier and more effective.

Last Word: Himalaya Herbals Deep Cleansing Milk did neither stand true to my expectations nor its own claims.

Repurchase: Hell....NO!

Overall Rating: 2.5/5

AVON Glimmersticks Diamonds Eyeliner: Twilight Sparkle G42,Review,Swatches and EOTD

15.3.12 42 Comments
I am fairly new to the idea of coloured eyeliners. Until six months back,my eye makeup primarily involved black liquid eyeliner but after being introduced to this whole new world of beauty blogging,I thought its never too late to give a new product a try.The obvious choice of colour other than black (no not the blue one) was brown and using that gave me the guts (yup, I always thought eyeliners other than black were majorly OTT) to try my hands on a blue one!
Going through the AVON e-brochure,i came across this Glimmersticks Diamonds Eyeliner which was on a buy one get one offer (yeah baby, thats another big reason for the buy). I wasted no time and ordered two from this range (the other being Emerald Glow)...and thank God I did :)

AVON Glimmersticks Diamonds Eyeliner Twilight Sparkle
 What It Claims:
AVON Glimmersticks Diamonds Eyeliner
  • Define eyes with a bold and glamorous look with an unexpected glisten of sparkle.
  • Long wearing, smudge proof shades glide on smooth and keep the glimmer going with all-day drama or night-time glamour.

Quantity: 0.28gm/0.01oz

Price: INR 299/- (I got it for 150/-) :) :)

Ingredients: Not mentioned :(

Packaging: AVON Glimmersticks Diamonds Eyeliner in Twilight Sparkle G42 is a pencil eyeliner and comes in a retractable pencil. The shade name, number and the colour itself is there on the pencil.Being retractable the pencil doesn't need sharpening (this saves a big hassle and quantity too). The pencil has to be twisted in order to get the product out like in all other retractable pencils,so this is no brainer.

Texture: AVON Glimmersticks Diamonds Eyeliner in Twilight Sparkle G42 has a smooth texture. It can be used for tight-lining even without a makeup base, though an eye shadow base or primer definitely makes the application a cake walk.It glides on smoothly and is packed with sparkle which look very beauitiful..aptly named 'Glimmersticks Diamonds'.The sparkles are quite noticeable and make it perfect for occasions and night outs (though I don't hesitate using it during the day as well)

Pigmentation:This shade in particular is quite pigmented. A single swipe of it makes the colour pretty visible.Though the beauty of it comes out in 2-3 swipes!

Staying Power: Now this is the USP of this eyeliner. It stays on and on and on..3swipes of it,you're good to go and it will stay put for atleast 6hours.It is waterproof so won't come off easily. It is smudge proof as well which provides it even more longevity.

Shade: AVON Glimmersticks Diamonds Eyeliner comes in seven shades:
  • Smoky Diamond
  • Twilight Sparkle
  • Emerald Glow
  • Black Ice
  • Flashy Copper
  • Golden Diamond
  • Sparkling Silver
Swatches of  Twilight Sparkle G42
The shade I'm reviewing is Twilight Sparkle. Its a deep royal blue shade. Its highly buildable so different number of swipes give different colour pay offs.In a single swipe it looks less bright dark blue with little shimmer. But after 3-4 swipes comes a deep royal (a bit of navy) blue which is marvelous (This shade in particular goes wonderfully well with blue denims). The sparkle is quite chunky and makes it a little less wearable during the day time to some beauties.but I love it and wear it whenever it coordinates my dress!

Twilight Sparkle G42 on Me
My Take: AVON Glimmersticks Diamonds Eyeliner in Twilight Sparkle G42 happens to be my second pencil eyeliner and first blue eyeliner.Though I grabbed it primarily because of the drool worthy offer (to be honest),I totally love it now.I was always a black kohl and black eyeliner person...never too much into eye makeup, but this product made me realize what I was missing on.Being beautifully coloured and having shimmers as well, saves the effort of applying eye shadow when on the go,as it instantly brightens up the eyes. The shimmers in it are quite noticeable still they don't make you look like a DB. Being buildable it will suit many tastes. The staying power as I mentioned earlier is amazing. The only con is that even after the eye liner is removed, the glitter particles are still there (even after using makeup remover and then washing off with a cleanser)scattered all over the face.Secondly, one out of ten times it did sting my eyes when I rubbed them mistakenly.I guess the glitter particles are to be blamed for this (but then what is the need to rub your eyes when you have eye makeup on..hehehehhe).

Twilight Sparkle on Me
 My Likes:
1.The shade Twilight Sparkle is beautiful.
2.Retractable thus no sharpening required(so no product wastage).
3.Smooth on application.
4.Pencil eyeliners are good for beginners.
5.Amazing staying power.
6.Colour depicted on the bottom of the pencil.
7.Water proof.
8.Smudge proof.
9.Affordable,specially when on offer!

My Dislikes:
1.Not waterline safe.
2.Needs oil based makeup remover (can't be just washed off).
3.May break if too much is twisted out.
4.Ingredients list not mentioned.
5.Glitter particles are tough to get rid off.

Last Word: Except for the fact that the glitter particles stay back even when the eye liner is removed,I don't see any other major con with this product.I like it and often use it!

Repurchase: Yup!
